Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has helped to take one Sky Blues star to the next level after his performance vs Oxford United.

Coventry City drew 2-2 against Oxford United on the road as Frank Lampard’s side continue their unbeaten run in the Championship.

Whilst fans may have expected more from the Sky Blues’ trip to Oxfordshire, it has not derailed what has been a solid start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Since Lampard took over at Coventry City, they have been a team to be feared, especially after the emphatic 7-1 home win against a beleaguered QPR side.

They no doubt continued to show that extra bite in the final third in the draw against Oxford United, and one player who has been ‘full of confidence’ has been singled out for an emphatic showing, something that has become a regular occurrence under Lampard.

Former Coventry City player heaps praise on Victor Torp as Dane continues to shine under Frank Lampard

Steve Ogrizovic, a former Coventry City goalkeeper, was on BBC co-commentary duty for the Sky Blues’ trip to Oxford United. One player who stood out amongst the pack for him was Victor Torp, who fired Coventry back into the lead on the 37th minute.

Following his well-hit finish to make it 2-1, Ogrizovic said: “This is a man full of confidence and at the top of his game.

“When Victor Torp put the ball down on the grass he had nothing else in his mind but scoring. The technique was incredible.

“He’s playing the best football he’s played since joining the club.”

Torp has now managed three goals in two Championship games after he bagged a brace in the convincing home win against QPR.

The 26-year-old also found the back of the net in the eight-goal thriller away at Derby County.

Victor Torp stats vs Oxford United

Victor Torp continues to shine under Frank Lampard this term, and his showing against Oxford United continued to display that, even if the result did not prove to be what Coventry City wanted.

Having been named as the Player of the Match, according to SofaScore, it cannot be disputed when reflecting on stats.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, he managed 76 touches on the ball and managed to record 47 accurate passes, one of which was key. He also managed to win five duels in the centre of the park, and of course scored a crucial goal to add to it.

For a lower-sitting midfielder to carry such a prominent goalscoring ability in the Coventry City side, it helps transform Lampard’s side, giving them an extra dimension in the final third when they do press forward.
