What one QPR star did after 7-1 defeat to Coventry City ‘speaks volumes’, he proved he’s a ‘class act’

Of all the results in the Championship this weekend, we never saw QPR getting battered 7-1 by Coventry City, and it’s led to a lot of negativity around the club.

Coventry City fans came away from the CBS Arena in high spirits after a record-breaking win, and that result should be a real signal of intent from the Sky Blues to the rest of their Championship rivals.

However, QPR supporters had to make the long trip back down South after seeing their side mauled in drastic fashion.

QPR’s plight is one of the biggest stories in the Championship today, but among all the mess, there is one player who can come out of it with his head held high.

Rayan Kolli addresses QPR fans after Coventry City hammering

After the game, 20-year-old QPR starlet Rayan Kolli was the first player to head to the travelling fans and hear their frustrations. As far as we can tell, he was one of only two players to do so, with veteran Steve Cook the other.

Taking to Twitter/X to discuss what Kolli did, QPR fans were clearly appreciative of his mature and measured response.

One said, “The fact the first person to go over to the fans is a 20 year old prospect speaks volumes,” while another added, “Kolli is a class act.”

Others wrote: “Can tell he’s got a good network behind him i.e. family and giving him a level head. It’s rare to see a 20 year old do this.”

Meanwhile, one fan was disappointed that others didn’t follow suit, adding, “Shame no one else had the guts to come over and speak to the fans.”

There had been talk of Kolli following Marti Cifuentes to Leicester City this summer, but we were told the youngster would stay at QPR.

For one supporter, the player’s gesture may be a nice touch, but he needs to improve on the pitch. They wrote: “Fair play for going over to front it but really needs to start showing on the pitch, [he is] so overrated at the moment by some of our fans. Has potential no doubt but needs to start showing more for me.”

QPR are in a real mess and need to solve it fast

For Julien Stephan, there’s every chance that time is already running out on his tenure as QPR boss. The Frenchman stepped in to replace Cifuentes this summer and while there were hopes he could build on what his predecessor did, it seems the club is going backwards right now.

QPR have now made their worst start to a season in ten years, and if things don’t improve quickly and dramatically, the writing may be on the wall.

With signings like Kwame Poku and Richard Kone, you’d think the R’s would be pushing on and being one of the dark horses for promotion this season, but they look like relegation fodder at the moment.

It remains to be seen whether they can do any business before the transfer window closes. Whoever comes in, they’ll have to hit the ground running for Stephan.
