Ipswich Town are staring a very serious issue in the face after shock defeat to Preston North End

Ipswich Town suffered a shock defeat to Preston North End at Deepdale, as Paul Heckingbottom’s side continued their fine start to the new Championship campaign.

Kieran McKenna’s side are still yet to taste victory this season, having drawn their opening two Championship fixtures before this defeat to Preston, while also being eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Bromley.

The Tractor Boys have been busy in the transfer market this summer; however, they look likely to dip in before the closure of the window on September 1, particularly after the stars they have lost.

Ipswich signed Chuba Akpom from Ajax ahead of Championship rivals Birmingham City and also added ‘exciting’ Azor Matusiwa in a £10m deal with Rennes, and these types of signings are set to continue.

Ipswich have won only one of their last 22 matches

Kieran McKenna will not be pleased with the shock defeat to Preston, as it now means that they have only won one of their last 22 matches, an unwanted record for Ipswich.

Ipswich are hoping to be among those sides competing for the title by the end of the season, and while it is only three games into the campaign, there appears to be a hangover from their Premier League season.

McKenna will need to address this dark cloud that appears to be hanging over the club and the players, as there appears to be a weight of expectation on the team, and they are struggling to deal with it.

The most obvious solution was to bring in several faces, and this has not had the desired impact as of yet, so McKenna will need to have a rethink of how he can achieve a win to bring about an end to this terrible record.

Ipswich are planning more signings

EFL Analysis exclusively revealed the plans the club have before the end of the transfer market.

The club are missing the former stars after Ipswich sold Liam Delap to Chelsea for £30m earlier in the summer, and more recently, Omari Hutchinson joined Nottingham Forest in a £37.5m move.

Ipswich are expected to add further recruits with the September 1 transfer deadline day fast approaching, with one deal imminent after EFL Analysis exclusively revealed that Ipswich are set to sign Sindre Walle Egeli for £17.2m from FC Nordsjaelland.

According to Transfermarkt, Ipswich have accumulated £75.8 million in player sales this summer yet have only spent £23 million, so there is an expectation they will be busy to ensure they return to the Premier League as the owners remain ambitious.
