EFL Analysis can confirm that Ipswich Town are poised to complete one of the major transfer coups of the summer window.
Ipswich Town have made a solid start to the 2025/26 Championship season, drawing with fellow promotion hopefuls Birmingham City and Southampton.
The Tractor Boys travel to Preston North End this weekend, but ahead of the clash, transfer links have been rife at Portman Road.
Since Omari Hutchinson joined Nottingham Forest from Ipswich in a £37.5m deal, Kieran McKenna has been searching for his potential replacement on the right flank.
Now, EFL Analysis can confirm that Ipswich are “close” to signing an in-demand European starlet as Hutchinson’s heir.

Ipswich are ‘pushing hard’ to sign Sindre Walle Egeli for £17.2m
Ipswich need to replace Hutchinson for the Championship season, which will be a difficult task after the England youth international scored 14 goals and registered seven assists in 82 outings for Ipswich.
Now, after reports emerged that Ipswich made a bid for Sindre Walle Egeli of around £17.2m, EFL Analysis can confirm that the Tractor Boys are close to his signature.
The 19-year-old Norwegian winger has already been in impressive form for Nordsjaelland this season, scoring one goal and assisting two in his first five appearances so far.
EFL Analysis understands, thanks to information from our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, that Ipswich are working hard to finalise terms for Egeli.
The overall deal for the FC Nordsjaelland teenager could be worth around €20m/£17.2m.

Bailey said: “Ipswich are pushing hard to get Walle Egeli – this would be a remarkable deal.
“A host of Premier League clubs have been looking at him, I honestly think this would be one of the most impressive deals of the transfer window from any club in England.
“Walle Egeli is a huge, huge talent. Ipswich don’t want to get ahead of themselves, but I am told the player is impressed with McKenna and they are now close to getting this over the line.”
Dutch giants PSV were also linked with Egeli, but now Ipswich are poised to complete a real transfer coup to sign the young winger.

Sindre Walle Egeli can fill the void at Ipswich Town after Omari Hutchinson’s exit
As well as Egeli, Ipswich have targeted Kasey McAteer of Leicester City after making a surprise bid for the Foxes youngster, who Sunderland bid £10m for in the January transfer window.
However, given Egeli’s pedigree and potential, the Nordsjaelland attacker would be an incredible coup for Ipswich.
In 2024/25, Egeli netted nine goals and lodged five assists in 31 Superligaen outings in his first full season at Nordsjaelland.

After breaking Norwegian youth records held by Manchester City star Erling Haaland, Egeli is one of the most highly coveted young attackers in Europe.
The left-footed right-winger’s technical ability and eye for goal are extremely similar to Hutchinson’s playstyle, and with McKenna well respected for his nurturing of young talent, it is no wonder that Egeli himself is keen on the move.
