Middlesbrough came back from behind twice against Preston North End to clinch a 2-2 stalemate.
Middlesbrough signed Matt Targett on loan from Boro’s North East neighbours Newcastle United, and the full-back has endeared himself to the Teessiders.
Middlesbrough drew 2-2 with Preston North End on Saturday afternoon after a dramatic Championship affair at Deepdale.
Lewis Dobbin opened the scoring for the hosts, and Targett bagged the equaliser for Boro after excellent work from substitute Sverre Nypan.
Jordan Storey restored Preston’s lead before substitute Sontje Hansen fired the equaliser for his first goal for Middlesbrough, and the Magpies loanee thanked the 5,600 Middlesbrough fans for spurring on the injury-time equaliser.

Matt Targett praises Middlesbrough fans after Preston North End draw
Targett continued his impressive start to life on loan at Middlesbrough with his second goal contribution in as many games.
In Boro’s 1-0 win over Sheffield before the international break, Targett provided the assist for Tommy Conway’s winner, and the Magpies loanee was on hand again to score Boro’s first at Preston.
After substitute Nypan’s probing approach into the Preston box, Targett converted after a scramble in the box with a volleyed finish with his weaker right foot.
The point at Preston maintained Middlesbrough’s undefeated start to the Championship season, and Targett thanked the “incredible” Boro faithful for their role in the spirited comeback.
Targett told BBC Sport Tees: “Obviously, we were chasing the equaliser. I think TC (Tommy Conway) made a good run, but the defender had done well to block it.
“And then they just hacked the clearance away and luckily, right place, right time.
“I got a good contact with my right foot and it went bottom corner.
“It was a nice feeling. Honestly, it was incredible support today.
“Credit to all the fans that travelled down. It felt like they were sucking the ball in the net that second half.
“Massive thank you to them and we’re going to need them all season.”

Rob Edwards has Middlesbrough selection headache for West Brom
With a laborious 46-game Championship season ahead of Middlesbrough, their winning streak was always going to come to an end.
However, the fact that Edwards’ side fought back from behind twice at Deepdale highlights that the belief and never-say-die attitude is rife at Boro.
The draw at Deepdale will give Edwards some food for thought regarding his selection process ahead of next weekend’s trip to fellow early impressers West Brom.
Middlesbrough fans slammed Morgan Whittaker for his “lacklustre” display against Preston, which led Edwards to withdraw the Boro forward for Manchester City loanee Nypan after 66 minutes of play.
With Nypan providing some much-needed attacking impetus to Boro’s attack, and £6.5m summer signing David Strelec proving a handful on his Middlesbrough debut, the duo have made a massive claim to feature in the starting XI against the Baggies.
