Sheffield United can set an impressive Football League record if they beat Swansea City

Sheffield United will want to put last weekend’s defeat in the past and record their first win of the season.

The Blades were hammered by Bristol City in a 4-1 defeat that even led to some fans demanding that Ruben Selles be sacked.

They travel to South Wales to face Swansea City, who are also looking for their first points of the season.

Selles and co will be the favourites for the three points and know that, if they come away with a win, they will set a brand new record.

Sheffield United one game away from setting new record

The Football League contains four non-English clubs in its pyramid. They are: Cardiff City, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport County.

All four hail from Wales and over the years, have been welcome opponents for Sheffield United.

As per BBC Sport, both Sheffield United and Colchester United have won their last 11 games against Welsh teams in all competitions and if they emerge victorious against Alan Sheehan’s men, they will hold the Football League record of most successful wins against Welsh opposition.

Colchester’s record of 11 lasted between 1985-1987 but now Selles and co have a chance to create history on their own.
