Hillsborough will play host to Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR this weekend, and Henrik Pedersen’s men should be full of confidence going into the game.
Sheffield Wednesday picked up their first league win of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Portsmouth 2-0 at Fratton Park.
That game saw the emergence of youngster George Brown, and another masterclass from Owls legend Barry Bannan.
Next up for Henrik Pedersen and co. is a return to home soil to take on a QPR side who are feeling confident themselves. But, looking at the history books, the Owls have everything on their side.

Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR head-to-head record
The Owls may have had a tough season so far, but in terms of the recent past, they’ve been fairly comfortable against QPR.
In fact, over the last five years and eight meetings between the two sides, Wednesday have lost just one game. That run includes five wins, two draws, and one rather heavy 4-1 defeat at Loftus Road.
| Date | Result | Competition |
| 24 Jan 2020 | Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday | FA Cup |
| 11 Jul 2020 | Queens Park Rangers 0-3 Sheffield Wednesday | Championship |
| 03 Oct 2020 | Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Queens Park Rangers | Championship |
| 10 Apr 2021 | Queens Park Rangers 4-1 Sheffield Wednesday | Championship |
| 16 Dec 2023 | Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Queens Park Rangers | Championship |
| 06 Apr 2024 | Queens Park Rangers 0-2 Sheffield Wednesday | Championship |
| 14 Sep 2024 | Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Queens Park Rangers | Championship |
| 25 Jan 2025 | Queens Park Rangers 0-2 Sheffield Wednesday | Championship |
That defeat came back in 2021. Since then, Wednesday have enjoyed dominance over QPR. But, of course, things have changed quite dramatically recently.
The Owls do have the better of QPR over their entire history, though. Wednesday have recorded 35 wins to QPR’s 26, with 19 draws between them.

Henrik Pedersen can put together a winning run
John Mousinho admitted Wednesday deserved their win on Saturday, and he’s absolutely right. The Owls never really gave Portsmouth a chance, which is mighty impressive given Pompey’s home record.
Between getting the three points, Harry Amass shining during his loan spell, and Barry Bannan continuing to carry the team, things are going pretty well for Wednesday this week.
Henrik Pedersen has spoken about the importance of the fans recently. But, it will be interesting to see what impact another hostile Hillsborough crowd has on the players.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 21 | 6 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 7 | -2 | 5 | |
| 22 | 6 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 8 | 12 | -4 | 5 | |
| 23 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 12 | -7 | 4 | |
| 24 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 1 | 13 | -12 | 0 |
Sheffield Wednesday’s squad depth is also a big concern, of course. But, with spirits high and the chance to move out of the relegation zone, you do fancy the Owls to get this one over the line.
