Sheffield Wednesday are of huge interest to businessman Adam Shaw, and as he plots a takeover of the club, he has now outlined what his plans would be.
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans are desperate to see Adam Shaw come into the club and rescue the Owls from the clutches of Dejphon Chansiri.
It’s said Shaw has had offers of $75m rejected by Chansiri, with the Wednesday chief thought to be holding out for at least £100m if he is to sell up.
With the club under a transfer embargo, facing potential points deductions, and with players still unpaid for last month, it’s no surprise fans want Chansiri out.
And, based on Shaw’s latest comments regarding his plans for the club, they’ll be even more keen to see him successful in his bid to take over.

Sheffield Wednesday should be ‘way bigger’ than Wrexham, says Adam Shaw
As part of an in-depth piece from The Athletic this week, Shaw has revealed plenty about the consortium he has put together, how much they’ve been willing to spend, and has also shed some light on his ambitions for the Owls.
Shaw said: “Sheffield Wednesday are nowhere in America. We sell zero shirts and have no commercial presence there — that’s got to change. With the World Cup in the US next year and with the individuals we have in our ownership group, we could easily become Florida’s English football team.
“We should and can be way bigger than Wrexham. Ryan Reynolds would give his left leg to have what we already have at Wednesday in terms of our history and fanbase. Let’s use that.”
Wrexham are back in the second tier next season for the first time in 43 years, and are looking to make waves by gunning for a fourth-successive promotion.
The transfer activity for Wrexham this summer will be very interesting indeed, as will the club’s attempts to grow their brand even more. Thanks to their superstar owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham have mass appeal the world over, and that will surely only increase now they are in the Championship.

How do Sheffield Wednesday compare to Wrexham?
If we look at the history of the two clubs, there is only really one winner. Sheffield Wednesday have won four league titles, the FA Cup three times, plus a League Cup and Charity Shield win. Wrexham, meanwhile, have a couple of lower league titles and 23 Welsh Cup wins, plus the EFL Trophy and FA Trophy.
In terms of the fanbases of the two clubs, Wednesday win again. An average of 26,560 flocked to Hillsborough for each home game last season, while Wrexham achieved an average of 12,757 at the Racecourse Ground in 2024/25. Admittedly, Wrexham’s ground needs work, especially in the away end.
But, thanks to the impact of Rob and Ryan, Wrexham are a big deal right now, and they’re growing all the time. Still, there’s no doubting that the Owls are a sleeping giant, and with the right backing from a new owner, they could soar to great heights once more.
It’s been a long time since Sheffield Wednesday were last in the top flight. If they’re not careful, and if things don’t improve soon in S6, we’ll likely see Wrexham overtake the Owls in the race to reach the Premier League.
