Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl’s recent shenanigans deserve credit for one key reason, according to Alan Biggs.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl looks set to stay, in what is an incredible 180 by the German regarding his future in S6.
It looked as though Rohl’s tenure at Hillsborough Stadium was near-impossible as Dejphon Chansiri continued in his ownership of the club, but he will return to take pre-season training at St George’s Park.
Recent days have seen positive progress regarding a takeover at Sheffield Wednesday, although EFL analysis exclusively revealed that one party pulled out.
Despite this, the Dejphon Chansiri tenure is seemingly drawing to its conclusion, and Rohl has been thanked for playing his part.

Voluntary Danny Rohl exile may have played its part in putting pressure on Dejphon Chansiri
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl’s return has come as a surprise, especially with Chansiri still in full control of the club, although it has coincided with the expectation that a takeover could be completed within weeks.
A change in ownership is imperative for the club’s sustainability, with players and staff not being paid by Dejphon Chansiri. Such a situation has left players and staff in the dark about their future, and that led to Rohl’s decision to proactively find his next club.
Rohl’s decision not to show up for pre-season training during Chansiri’s reign, in fact, helped put the spotlight further on the Sheffield Wednesday owner this summer.
This has been recognised that Alan Biggs, who wrote on X: “Word of Danny Rohl’s intention to stay at Sheffield Wednesday is the best possible news for the club. It’s the biggest indication yet of Dejphon Chansiri being willing to sell & of a takeover genuinely being close. Keeping a very good manager is the cherry on that cake.
“The Rohl saga has split supporters with some critical of his stance & the way he’s made it. But two facts remain. He’s the best possible manager Sheffield Wednesday could have at this time. And his resolute position has been a major force towards removing Chansiri.”

Danny Rohl’s decision to return will fill Sheffield Wednesday fans with hope
The picture for the 2025/26 Championship season is rather bleak at the moment, with a selection of Sheffield Wednesday players, who handed in their 15-day notice, set to depart in less than a week, unless a solution to their pay can be found.
However, Danny Rohl staying at the club, on top of Henrik Pedersen’s decision to sign a contract with the club, will have filled fans with a crumb of hope ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Despite the club being rock-bottom of the Championship when Rohl took over from the club, this will undoubtedly be his biggest challenge to date.
Whilst talks of a takeover remain up in the air, the best thing Sheffield Wednesday fans can do at this point is back their manager and the current squad, who will need to be on top form to compete in this upcoming Championship season.
