Sheffield Wednesday reporter Alex Miller has pointed the finger at Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri for the ‘mess’ at the club.
Sheffield Wednesday kick off their 2025/26 Championship season on the road to Leicester City.
Any hopes and optimism amongst Owls fans have been shattered across what has been a disastrous summer for Sheffield Wednesday, overseen by Dejphon Chansiri.
Several Sheffield Wednesday first team players have left, and whilst Barry Bannan has signed a new deal, hopes of a successful season in S6 have already been tarnished.
Issues have sparked, both on and off the pitch at Hillsborough, with new Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen set to have a huge task on his hands. Some would say that relegation this season is a near-certainty, and one man has been blamed for that…Dejphon Chansiri.

What Alex Miller wrote about Dejphon Chansiri and the Sheffield Wednesday ‘mess’
Sheffield Wednesday’s first team has been ripped apart in the summer transfer window, with Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba leaving for cut-price deals, whilst Josh Windass, Michael Smith, and a catalogue of other players have left on free transfers.
As a result, even Sheffield Wednesday reporter Alex Miller has very little optimism ahead of the new season, with fans ‘praying’ for a takeover following a disastrous summer headed by Dejphon Chansiri.
Miller, via Hull Daily Mail, was asked for his Sheffield Wednesday predictions this season, which he admitted that there was a huge likelihood of relegation.
Miller wrote: “As much as I’d love to jump into the realms of stoic optimism, it’s tough to suggest anything other than relegation.
“Things can change – and how the Wednesday hopeful are praying for a takeover at some stage – but right here and right now the feeling is one of damage limitation and making the best of a mess made by one man alone – Dejphon Chansiri.”

Pressure will be off the Owls players this season
In recent times, there has not been a Championship side that has been as poorly prepared for the season ahead as Sheffield Wednesday are currently. That is by no means an indictment towards any player or member of staff at Sheffield Wednesday…merely Dejphon Chansiri and the situation he has overseen.
Supporters have already accepted relegation as a bare minimum before a ball has even been kicked, which arguably puts all the pressure off the players.
The fans will applaud the players, no matter what the scoreline on Sunday against Leicester City, as they have been through a hugely difficult summer that makes the football on the pitch only secondary.
Hopefully, Sheffield Wednesday’s new-look first team can channel that easing of pressure into a few surprise performances, starting with their trip to the King Power Stadium this weekend.
