After a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, Huddersfield Town mean business in the summer transfer window, laying down the marker on their automatic promotion ambitions.
Town have made 10 new signings so far this summer, with many of their additions capable of playing in the Championship.
Huddersfield have signed Lynden Gooch, the former Sunderland right-back, as one example of their ambition. Lee Grant has also added the likes of Marcus Harness, Ryan Ledson, Jack Whatmough and Murray Wallace to his squad.
The above are personnel who have played plenty of football in the second tier and will form an incredible League One team that should be battling for promotion.
The icing on the cake is capturing clinical third-tier finisher Alfie May, who has joined for £1.3 million from Birmingham City.

Alfie May reacts after joining Huddersfield Town from Birmingham City
Huddersfield have assembled a strong team, mainly focusing on additions in defence and midfield to lay down the foundations of a promotion-chasing team.
But every side needs a ruthless finisher in front of goal, and the capture of May from Birmingham is someone who guarantees goals in League One.
The 32-year-old has plundered 89 goals in 248 third-tier appearances, including 16 for the Blues last term as they stormed to the title.
After completing his transfer to the Terriers, May couldn’t ignore the ‘massive’ ambition they’re showing, comparing it to the ‘positive feeling’ he experienced at Birmingham.
“It’s no secret that this is a club that I’ve come close to joining in the past, and I’m really pleased the opportunity has come again to become a Town player,” May said via Huddersfield’s official website.
“This is a huge Club with massive ambition, and that’s all any player wants to feel a part of. I was in a team last season that felt similarly, so I know what’s possible when a squad clicks with a manager and there’s a positive feeling across the whole club, and that’s something I recognise here.”
The Englishman also reserved some praise for Grant, labelling him an ‘exciting’ manager while admitting he slots perfectly into his system.
“My job is to work as hard as possible and score goals, and I’ll do everything in my power to repay the faith the club has shown in me,” May added.
“Lee Grant is an exciting manager and the way he wants to play and attack feels like the right fit for me, so I can’t wait to get going.”
May can fire Huddersfield Town to promotion
Huddersfield are stacked with forward options heading into the 2025/26 campaign, with May joining Freddie Ladapo, Dion Charles, Joe Taylor, Bojan Radulovic and Rhys Healey in attack.
Unquestionably, May is the most clinical of the lot, having hit the 20-goal mark in a League One campaign on three different occasions at Cheltenham Town and Charlton Athletic.
Alfie May’s goal record at Cheltenham and Charlton
2023/24 (Charlton Athletic – 23 goals)
2022/23 (Cheltenham Town – 20 goals)
2021/22 (Cheltenham Town – 23 goals)
Although May is now 32 and approaching the twilight years of his career, he promises to deliver more magic in front of goal at Huddersfield, who will hope he can fire them back into the Championship.
