Birmingham City were clear favourites going into the 2024/25 EFL Trophy final, but Peterborough United had other ideas.

Birmingham City’s route to the EFL Trophy final proved a fairly easy one for Chris Davies and co.

Peterborough United, meanwhile, secured a massive victory over League One high-flyers Wrexham in the semi-finals to reach the showpiece.

Peterborough United were looking to make history on Sunday and did exactly that in emphatic fashion.

19-year-old Harley Mills put the Posh 1-0 up inside 15 minutes with a simply stunning free-kick.

The left-back was then involved 30 minutes later, providing a cross that was eventually put into the Birmingham net by Hector Kyprianou.

Mega-money signing Jay Stansfield did look to have pulled a goal back inside the final 10 minutes for the Blues but it was ruled out for offside.

In the end, Peterborough were able to hold out for the victory, becoming the first side ever to win back-to-back EFL Trophies.

He went on to make 36 senior appearances for the Midlands outfit, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process.

Steer didn’t have a lot to do across the 90 minutes, but the couple of saves he did make ensured there was no way Birmingham could get back into the game.
