Sheffield United emerged victorious against Coventry City on Friday night, with Chris Wilder’s side emerging 3-1 victors in the Championship.

It was a fine performance from the Blades, who now find themselves two points clear at the top of the table, with Leeds slipping up against Swansea on Saturday.

United had some great performers against Coventry. Rhian Brewster had another good stint up top, Hamza Choudhury was excellent and the Sheffield back line, as it always is, was rock solid.

But there was one man who stood out among the bunch, and he was receiving praise left right and centre for his Championship masterclass.

Gustavo Hamer lauded by James McAtee

Gustavo Hamer scored a quite simply ludicrous free-kick against Coventry and was electric for the majority of the fixture.

He took to Instagram on Saturday to post about the fine Blades performance, with a number of pictures from the game.

A series of comments flooded in, including from former Blade and current Manchester City star James McAtee. He had praise for the Brazilian, simply writing: ‘Baller’.

One word, but an undeniable statement – Hamer stole the show against his former side, leaving the Sky Blues more than a little envious that he’s now sporting red and white.

Lampard had high praise for Hamer post-match – and it seems that many more who watched the midfielder dominate echoed the same thoughts.

Other former and current Blades laud Hamer

Alongside McAtee, several other former and current Sheffield United players also responded to Hamer.

Oli McBurnie commented with a crown emoji, whilst Vinicius Souza commented ‘easy’ with a love heart.

Oliver Arblaster was also present, alongside many more adoring Blades fans – all in agreement on one thing. Hamer – is dynamite.

Now, Sheffield have seven games left between them and Championship glory, combined with immediate Premier League ascendancy – but face some difficult fixtures ahead.
