Sheffield United are flying high at the top end of the Championship, with one of Chris Wilder’s men providing doubters wrong recently.
Sheffield United kicked off 2024/25 with a two-point deduction, but that has not impacted their promotion battle so far.
The Blades last lined out on Friday evening, facing off with Frank Lampard’s Coventry City in a huge tie.
Sheffield United beat Coventry 3-1 to go top of the second tier for at least a day. And after Leeds United dropped points in their latest fixture, Chris Wilder’s men were able to maintain their place at the summit.
There are still plenty of points left to play for in 2024/25, but securing a win over play-off contenders Coventry has helped the Yorkshire outfit’s cause.

Sam Parkin impressed by Sheffield United’s Hamza Choudhury
A number of players impressed in the Friday evening meeting, with Lampard praising Gustavo Hamer after his excellent goal.
While Hamer was superb, however, Hamza Choudhury really shone for Sheffield United versus Coventry.
The midfielder arrived at Bramall Lane from Leicester City during the January transfer window and had arguably his best display of the season last time out.
His showing has since seen BBC and Sky Sports pundit Sam Parkin admit that while he’d previously questioned Choudhury, the midfielder is ‘much better player than you maybe anticipate’.
Parkin said when speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast this week: “I think Hamza Choudhury’s someone who you know, I’ve never really probably spent much time talking about.
“But when you watch him in the flesh, he’s a much better player than you maybe anticipate.
“I remember him playing that kind of inverted fullback role last year at Leicester, and I questioned him a few times, whether he was going to be suitable in that role, whether he was going to get done one vs one, and he was so composed and so comfortable.
“So seeing him in the absence of Souza alongside Peck, which has been such a strong position, strong combination for Sheffield United this year, Souza wasn’t missed. So that’s a huge credit to Choudhury.”

Will Sheffield United sign Hamza Choudhury permanently
After such impressive form over the last few months, Sheffield United fans are no doubt open to the prospect of keeping the midfielder beyond 2024/25.
Choudhury is only on loan with the Blades for the remainder of the campaign, where he will then moved back to Leicester.
With the Foxes set to be relegated down to the Championship this season, they could well be interested in keeping 27-year-old at the King Power Stadium next term.
There is no option to buy in Choudhury’s deal with Sheffield United and, as of right now, it’s not known if they would be interested in a permanent move.
