Incoming Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang has one clear trait that will benefit the Rams next season.
Derby County are looking to build on the 2024/25 Championship season, where they avoided relegation under John Eustace.
After a positive first campaign back in the Championship, Derby County are showing ambition in the transfer window.
Notably, Derby County are set to sign USA striker Patrick Agyemang this summer after a £5.8 million fee was accepted by MLS side Charlotte FC for the Rams to attain his services.
Derby’s forward options were notably weak last season, leading to the club taking decisive action by bringing in a striker with a top goalscoring record.
To get a taste of what to expect from Agyemang this season, if his move can make further progress, Derby County fans were glued to the screen to watch the forward in his recent USMNT appearance, with Rams fans noticing one thing.

Derby County fans now know Patrick Agyemang’s biggest strength despite USA defeat
Patrick Agyemang’s USA suffered defeat in the Gold Cup to Mexico, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side creating very few chances, leading to the incoming Derby County forward getting very little coverage on the ball.
Nonetheless, Derby fans reacted positively to Agyemang’s performance up front on social media.
On X, one fan suggested that ‘Agyemang was feeding off scraps, but brought it down under pressure when they did find him.’ The 6ft4 man was said to have offered ‘what you expect from a big striker’ in the contest, with Agyemang managing to win his side free kicks when being put under pressure.
Many Derby fans said that Agyemang was wrongly singled out as a poor performer by USA fans, with one Rams supporter stating that ‘the US are dire and can’t get Agyemang the ball, and when he does get it, he wins free kicks.’
Derby County fans continued, with one saying that they look forward to seeing him play ‘in some sort of structure’, whilst another noted his key strengths, having said: “His hold up play is neat and lays it off fast… the other American players just want to run with the ball instead of passing like a 5 year old… he got zero service all match, even long balls up to him were poor.”

Patrick Agyemang could work brilliantly alongside fellow Derby signing
The stature that Agyemang holds shows that John Eustace has already worked out a system that he will prove to be brilliant in.
Agyemang will certainly be a fine addition, not just for his goalscoring abilities, but for how well he will be able to complement Carlton Morris and play to his strengths.
Morris is past his peak, but can still offer pace that will feed well off Agyemang when he is in a position to hold up the ball, and such a tactic could work brilliantly for Eustace’s side next season.
