Birmingham City are expected to have a busy summer transfer window, while one of their January targets is now available for free.

Peterborough United’s Kwame Poku is wanted by Birmingham City after an impressive season in League One.

The Midlands outfit have completed one transfer already, signing Phil Neumann from Hannover 96.

Meanwhile, EFL Analysis understands that Birmingham want to target five positions in the upcoming window.

One of those is a striker, while another is a new wide man. And a forward that the club wanted earlier in 2025 has now become available for free.

Nathan Redmond released by Burnley after Birmingham City transfer interest

Back in the 2025 winter transfer window, it was reported by The Sun that Birmingham wanted to sign Nathan Redmond.

No move came to pass, however, with the winger’s 2024/25 season plagued with injury issues.

He only played 13 minutes of Championship football for the Clarets, in part due to his persistent fitness problems.

Burnley have since gone on to win promotion to the Premier League, and on Tuesday, have announced their retained list.

In which they confirmed that Redmond will be leaving the club at the end of his contract on June 30.

The now 31-year-old is a Birmingham native and began his career at St Andrew’s.

He made a total of 82 appearances for the club during his time there, in which he scored nine goals and assisted 11.

After a loan spell with Burton Albion and a stint in the first-team, Birmingham sold Redmond to Norwich City in the summer of 2013, who he helped win the Championship play-offs in 2014/15.

He signed for Burnley on a free transfer from Turkish side Besiktas in 2023.
