Blackburn Rovers have struggled so far in this campaign after being eliminated by Bradford City in the Carabao Cup and by losing their opening two fixtures of the Championship.

The Lancashire club have a rich history, having won several domestic trophies in their 150 years of existence, and now they are looking to celebrate those who have been key to their success over the years.
While there has been some negativity around the club in recent weekends due to the Lewis Travis transfer saga and in how the Venky’s continue to run the club, yet they are trying to celebrate those who are beloved by fans.
This celebration saw them hand out caps to three individuals who had a significant impact on the club.

The efforts of three club legends are recognised
Ahead of the game with Birmingham City in the Championship, which Blackburn would go on to lose in dramatic fashion in added time, the club honoured two previous players and a former manager.
To commemorate their efforts, they handed them caps, with this looking likely to continue through the season to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Blackburn Rovers.
The caps were handed out to David Dunn, who was a local lad who grew up loving the club and would represent Blackburn Rovers across two different spells.
Tony Mowbray was awarded a cap, with the former manager winning promotion back to the Championship several seasons ago, and the final cap was awarded to Mike Newell, who was part of the Premier League-winning team of 1995.

The message from the legends
David Dunn was proud of the recognition that he had received from the club, particularly as he came from Blackburn.
He said: “When I got told about it, I was obviously really proud of being from Blackburn.
“To be back today against one of my other old clubs, I feel extremely proud.
I’ve got so many great memories, and then the supporters who always backed the local lad as well. I’m really pleased I was allowed to put some smiles on faces.”

Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray reminisced about his spell in charge of Blackburn Rovers across League One and the Championship.
He said: “When I had the chance to come to Blackburn Rovers, it was amazing, and I’m sitting here very humble today to feel I played a tiny part in their history because I had such a wonderful time here.
“I’ll always cherish my time at Blackburn Rovers, and I’m very thankful for everybody that helped.”
While Mike Newell added: “It is an honour, and obviously it brings back great memories.
“It was fairy tale stuff.”
