One of the most fascinating games in the Championship this coming weekend will see Blackburn Rovers host Norwich City at Ewood Park, but Valerien Ismael’s side would probably wish they could face someone else instead.
Blackburn Rovers have not had the most enjoyable time of it over the last few months, with a managerial change, inconsistent form, and players departing en masse.
It’s been a weird few months for Norwich City, too. The Canaries have also changed manager and seen a whole host of new faces arrive at Carrow Road in the transfer window.
The two sides were responsible for big stories in the Championship over the weekend, for different reasons, but now they come head-to-head in what is an intriguing tie.

Norwich City unbeaten at Ewood Park since 2012
Ahead of this weekend’s action, we’ve been looking back through the history books and noticed a very concerning pattern for Blackburn.
Turns out, Rovers have not actually beaten Norwich at Ewood Park since 2012, when a 2-0 triumph came courtesy of goals from Mauro Formica and Junior Hoilett.
Since then, Blackburn suffered five defeats on the bounce when hosting the Canaries, before picking up a couple of draws in 2024 and 2025.
| Date | Result | Competition |
| 21 Apr 2012 | Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Norwich City | Premier League |
| 24 Feb 2015 | Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Norwich City | Championship |
| 06 Aug 2016 | Blackburn Rovers 1-4 Norwich City | Championship |
| 22 Dec 2018 | Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Norwich City | Championship |
| 12 Dec 2020 | Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Norwich City | Championship |
| 07 Apr 2023 | Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Norwich City | Championship |
| 24 Feb 2024 | Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Norwich City | Championship |
| 01 Mar 2025 | Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Norwich City | Championship |
Interestingly, before that torrid run began, Blackburn had actually gone six unbeaten at home against Norwich, winning four and drawing two of the meetings at Ewood Park between 1993 and 2012.
Overall, though, Blackburn do have the edge in the grand scheme of things, with 22 wins to Norwich’s 16 (and 16 draws) across the 54 meetings between the two teams.

Which version of Blackburn Rovers will show up on Saturday?
On Saturday, we saw a completely different Blackburn Rovers side turn up and demolish Hull City. That was largely down to a masterclass from new captain Todd Cantwell, but once again we are simply not sure what version of the Lancashire outfit will show up week to week.
Rovers were in miserable form when Valerien Ismael first came in, before putting together a strong run and falling just short of the play-offs last season.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 13 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 4 | |
| 14 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 4 | |
| 15 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 5 | -2 | 4 | |
| 16 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 3 | |
| 17 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 5 | -1 | 3 | |
| 18 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 | -1 | 2 | |
| 19 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 7 | -2 | 1 |
They’ve had a hit-and-miss start to this season, and while you’d think home advantage could be a boost for Saturday’s game, the statistics suggest otherwise.
The same goes for Norwich right now, to be fair, with the Canaries suffering a home defeat to Middlesbrough in their last game. This will be a clash of two teams that have no momentum or rhythm at all, and who will triumph is anyone’s guess.
