Blackburn Rovers stance on Moussa Baradji becomes clear amid Axel Henriksson development

The Blackburn Rovers squad has changed quite considerably since the start of last season, as Valerien Ismael is set to embark on his first full season as boss.

Ismael did not get off to the best of starts as manager; however, by the end of the campaign, the team had got used to his style and missed out on the play-offs by a point on the final day of the season.

Heading into this Championship season, after their pre-season, there is some hope that Rovers could make a return to the Premier League after they were relegated from the top flight in 2012.

As Rovers bid farewell to Tyrhys Dolan to Espanyol, the latest player out the door was Callum Brittain, who departed for Middlesbrough.

While fans would have been hopeful Moussa Baradji may have been joining the Lancashire club, there is an update regarding that.

Moussa Baradji may not be joining Blackburn after Axel Henriksson is set to join

A deal was agreed with Swedish top-flight club GAIS and Blackburn for the signing of Axel Henriksson, with the 23-year-old set to move to Ewood Park.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the move for Axel Henriksson will put the brakes on any deal for Moussa Baradji.

This is due to the number of options the club have in the centre of midfield, with six options in his position there before he joins.

Sondre Tronstad, Lewis Travis, Sidnei Tavares, Adam Forshaw, and John Buckley are all at the club; however, the final option in that list does not appear to be in Ismael’s plan.

However, any move for Baradji will need the club to remove one of the players currently holding an ESC slot, as Henriksson will take the final slot.

The player Blackburn Rovers are missing out on

Rovers look set to miss out on Moussa Baradji for a number of reasons, at least in the short term.

Baradji, who operates as a central and defensive midfielder as well as a right winger, played 27 times in the Swiss Super League last season, scoring four goals and making three assists.

As reported, his former manager Paolo Tramezzani, now at AEL Limassol, told Swiss outlet Blick about his qualities as a player.

He said: “Moussa is a very surprising player, who can play in all midfield positions, who has great stamina. He has rare qualities.”
