The future destination of Tyrhys Dolan has now been confirmed, as Blackburn Rovers announced he had signed for Espanyol.

Dolan had been offered a contract extension to stay at Blackburn Rovers at the end of the season; however, the attacker opted to leave the club to explore his options elsewhere.

It had been believed that Middlesbrough would sign Dolan, but this move never materialised, as the 23-year-old wished to explore his options abroad.

This did not stop Bristol City from making a move for Dolan, yet it was clear he wished to move abroad.

Blackburn fans have now made their feelings known about his exit from the club to move to Catalunya.

Fans react to Tyrhys Dolan’s move to Espanyol

Blackburn Rovers took to social media to post farewell and thanks to their former player Tyrhys Dolan, with the attacker signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2020.

He then spent five years at the club before opting to move to Spain to play for Espanyol, and fans have made their feelings known about his move, with the overwhelming reaction being negative.

One fan said: “Adiós, Ty. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out. He will be back in England on loan in January. Hopefully not to Burnley at least. He’s nowhere near up to La Liga standard.”

Another fan shared this sentiment as they said: “What is this all about? Tribute posts to a lad who clearly thinks very little of Blackburn Rovers; he couldn’t wait to get out! What has happened to my club? Oh well, at least we have the memories of yesteryear.”

While a number of fans pointed out that he had signed for a club that shares owners with Blackburn’s biggest rivals, Burnley.

One fan said: “A club owned by the Burnley owners, brilliant.”

While another said: “He’ll be at Burnley before long with them being linked now.”

However, there were a number of fans who thanked him and wished him all the best for the future.

One fan said: “Class, well done, Ty, and all the best.”

Tyrhys Dolan follows the path of former Blackburn Rovers favourite

It is not the first time Blackburn Rovers have lost a player at the end of their contract to a club in La Liga.

This time the Lancashire club could not keep Dolan, as the allure of moving to Barcelona was too much for the attacker, and he signed for Espanyol.

However, the previous occasion saw Ben Brereton Diaz leave Blackburn to join Villarreal.

The Chilean international did not last long in Spain, as he left the club only six months after joining to go on loan to Sheffield United.

So, Tyrhys Dolan will be hoping things in Spain will go differently for him as he embarks on this new challenge.
