EFL Analysis has the latest on Tyrhys Dolan’s future with Blackburn Rovers amid interest from Middlesbrough.

Tyrhys Dolan ended the 2024/25 season with seven goals and six assists in 44 Championship outings.

He was a regular feature for Blackburn Rovers, who, despite a late upturn in form, failed to make the play-offs.

The 23-year-old’s future at Ewood Park is currently up in the air, with his contract set to expire on June 30, 2025.

We now have an update on the player’s future, with Middlesbrough among the clubs looking at the Blackburn ace.

Tyrhys Dolan Blackburn Rovers future latest

When releasing their retained list last week, it was confirmed by the club that Blackburn had offered Dolan a new contract.

We have now spoken to our resident transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, about the forward and his future.

And Bailey told us he would be very surprised if he remained at Blackburn, while also confirming that Middlesbrough remain in for Dolan after their interest was revealed earlier this month.

He said: “I’d be surprised if Dolan stayed at Blackburn. He’s run his contract down for a reason. There’s Middlesbrough, and there’s other Championship clubs in for him as well. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t move on from what I’m being told.

“Boro are definitely still trying, he’s had those talks, but obviously they’ve got a few issues to resolve themselves as well [Carrick situation].”

Tyrhys Dolan stats vs Middlesbrough wingers

The majority of Dolan’s appearances in 2024/25 came in his primary position, right-wing – an area Boro have lost two players in recently.

Ben Doak returned to Liverpool after his loan spell with the Teessiders was curtailed by a long-term injury.

Middlesbrough sold Isaiah Jones to Luton Town in January as well.

They went on to sign Morgan Whittaker in the winter window, but they are still a man down compared to the start of 2024/25.
