Cardiff City maintained their grip on second place in League One on Tuesday evening, as they left it late to beat AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
Both sides had 16 shots on goal each, but just three of those found the target combined, with neither goalkeeper finding themselves under much threat at any point in the clash.
Rubin Colwill believes that the Bluebirds can win promotion this season, and more moments like Isaak Davies’ 92nd minute winner against the Dons will only help them in their quest as they made it three wins and a draw from their opening four games.
However, the game was overshadowed by a significant injury to Cardiff winger Ollie Tanner, and Brian Barry-Murphy has major concerns for the 23-year-old.

Brian Barry-Murphy explains more on Ollie Tanner’s injury at Cardiff City
The London-born ace started the game against Wimbledon on Tuesday, but he collided with an advertising board just before half-time, ending his game early.

Tanner has just signed a new four-year deal at Cardiff, but it now looks as though he will spend a significant period of time in the treatment room. Barry-Murphy said (via: Wales Online): “We’ll scan it tomorrow and reassess from there, but he’s on crutches at the moment and will be going to hospital.
“In this moment he’ll regret going for the ball, but that’s the instinct of a player like him – to give everything and never give up.
“There’s no point looking back. From here, we’ll do everything we can to support Ollie and make sure he recovers as quickly as possible.”

Brian Barry-Murphy has time to find an Ollie Tanner replacement
While it is never ideal to see a key player struck down by injury, there is still just under two weeks left in the transfer window for Cardiff to find a replacement for Tanner.
The Bluebirds have had a relatively quiet summer, with their main focus being on keeping hold of their major players rather than seeking out fresh faces.

However, Barry-Murphy may have been backed into a corner to go and find a new player if allowed by owner Vincent Tan, with Cardiff already showing signs that they will be a frontrunner for the title.
Nevertheless, the main concern will be working with the 23-year-old as he battles through this injury, with his recovery the most important thing right now.
