Scott Parker has really got Burnley ticking right now, and the Clarets are potentially heading for a hat-trick of impressive Championship records this season.
As a recently-relegated side, equipped with parachute payments and a talented squad, Burnley were always going to be one of the favourites to go up this year.
They’ve consistently been competing at the top of the Championship table all season, and as we approach the final run-in after the international break, they could well secure a top-two spot come the end of the campaign.
But, it may not be just promotion Burnley secure over the course of the next eight games, with a long-standing second tier record in the crosshairs.

Burnley could match record-breaking Reading run
At the moment, Burnley have gone a whopping 25 games unbeaten, stretching right the way back to November 2024. The last time they lost a game was an away trip to Millwall on November 3rd.
With eight games to go, Burnley could feasibly end up with a 33-game unbeaten run, assuming they don’t lose another game all season.
Doing so would see them match a record set by Reading in 2006 — when the Royals racked up the highest points tally in Championship history — with the longest unbeaten run in the second tier ever.

The problem is, Burnley have some mighty tough games on the horizon, including a promotion six-pointer against Sheffield United on April 21, while the trip to the CBS Arena to face Coventry City will change the title race one way or another.

Everything is working for Burnley at just the right time
Burnley have already grabbed the Championship clean sheet record this season thanks to James Trafford’s efforts in goal, as well as taking the record for the most clean sheets in a row, too.
Defensively, the Clarets have been almost impenetrable all season, but they did lack a certain edge in attack… that is until the turn of the year. Now, you can’t stop Burnley scoring, and they’re racking up a considerable goal difference of late, too.

At the moment, there is arguably no team better than Burnley in the Championship. They’re keeping clean sheets, they’re prolific in front of goal, all of their players — especially skipper Josh Brownhill — are on fire, and Scott Parker has got them securing efficient, impressive results week in, week out.
They may still be the outside shot for the Championship title based on league position, but make no mistake, Burnley are the team to beat right now, and they could very well go all the way to the top before the season is out.
