Burnley vs Sheffield United has been reviewed by Championship experts, with the pressure on one side.
Burnley and Sheffield United will face off this evening in a game that will dictator the landscape of the automatic promotion landscape.
Sheffield United will need to notch a victory against Scott Parker’s side in order to maintain their automatic promotion hopes, with the Blades currently sat five points away from Burnley and Leeds United.
Ahead of the game, former Leeds striker Michael Bridges spoke on Sky Sports about the ‘pressure’ Sheffield United will be under ahead of the tie, and this is a viewpoint that another Championship expert has taken.

Sheffield United told what they need from Burnley as the ‘pressure’ mounts up
Sheffield United have recently found themselves hitting a rocky patch of form at the worst of times, suffering three league defeats in a row, which all fell against arguably favourable opponents of Millwall, Oxford United, and Plymouth Argyle.
As a result, their slim chances of automatic promotion solely rely on the upcoming clash with Burnley, and anything less than a win would make it too much of a mountain for Chris Wilder’s side to climb.
This is also the view of Championship experts Ryan Dilks and Justin Peach on the Second Tier Podcast.
“This game is humongous, isn’t it, it’s more or less a de facto play-off final because anything but a Sheffield United win is absolutely no good for them,” said Dilks.
Peach agreed with Dilks, who said: “They absolutely need three points, Burnley can get away with drawing here.
“The level of this game, more so from a Sheffield United perspective again, it just adds that pressure to it.”
Burnley game plan will surely look to frustrate Chris Wilder
The game is set up for Sheffield United to have to come flying out the traps and take the game to Burnley due to the fact that the Blades will by no means settle for a point at Turf Moor. Burnley, on the other hand, will no doubt try and dictate the game the way they want, and that will involve sitting back and looking to nullify Sheffield United’s threat.
It is a system deployed by Parker that has been fullproof throughout the 2024/25 Championship season, based on the fact that they have only lost two games this season, and it will no doubt frustrate Wilder.
With the necessity of winning a game dictating Sheffield United’s play-off chances, the last team they would have wanted to face would be Burnley at Turf Moor. Unless Sheffield United can mount an incredible performance that can somehow counter Parker’s defensive style brilliantly, it’ll be a difficult task for Wilder’s side.
