Danny Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday this summer and Chris Powell has been discussing the exit.
After eventually returning to pre-season after an extended break, Danny Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent at the end of July.
Shortly after the German’s exit was made official, first-team coach Chris Powell left Sheffield Wednesday as well.
Powell posted a farewell message at the time, thanking the players and the manager for his time with the Owls.
Now, the former Charlton Athletic man has opened up on Rohl’s departure.

‘Really bizarre’ Dejphon Chansiri story from Danny Rohl exit
In recent months, the now former Sheffield Wednesday manager was linked with plenty of clubs.
Rohl had interest from Middlesbrough and the likes of Southampton and Leicester City as well.
All of those clubs have since appointed new bosses ahead of 2025/26, but Powell, speaking on The Sports Agent podcast, has now confirmed Dejphon Chansiri was offered money for Rohl and turned it down.
He said: “He doesn’t sell players. He keeps them to the end of contracts, and they walk away. He was holding out for money for Danny. He was offered money, didn’t take it.
“Danny was linked to all these clubs, but he didn’t speak to them. I think he [Chansiri] now thinks, ‘Well, now he’s gone, he hasn’t got anywhere to go, so I’ve won.’ That’s the way he would think. Oh, it’s bizarre, Mark. Really bizarre.”

What was Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday release clause
The exact amount of money Chansiri was offered for Rohl is not known.
However, as we reported earlier this year, he had a release clause in his Sheffield Wednesday contract.
That clause was understood to have been just shy of £5m, but seemingly was not activated by any club this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday remain in a financial crisis and extra money from Rohl leaving, even if it wasn’t his full release clause, could have helped on that front.
