Sheffield Wednesday assistant coach Chris Powell left the Owls alongside Danny Rohl ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.
Sheffield Wednesday are heading into the 2025/26 Championship season with Henrik Pedersen at the helm.
Danny Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent last week just days before the campaign begins, in another major departure from S6 this summer.
The likes of Josh Windass, Michael Smith, and Djeidi Gassama have all moved on this summer but the Owls faithful finally received some good news after Barry Bannan signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract.
Alongside Rohl, assistant Chris Powell left Sheffield Wednesday this summer, and the Owls fan favourite figure has now shared an emotional farewell.

Chris Powell shares emotional Sheffield Wednesday farewell message
First-team coach Powell left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent last week alongside Rohl.
Former Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town boss Powell became a popular figure at the Owls after he was appointed as an assistant to Rohl in October 2023.
Powell provided the German with English football experience and was present for the Owls’ great escape from League One relegation in his first season in charge, and for the club’s 12th-placed finish last term before his contract came to an end this summer.
Now, Powell has released a heartfelt thank you message to the Owls players, Rohl, and the Sheffield Wednesday supporters following his exit.
Powell said on X: Following my departure from my role as an assistant coach at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you.
“Firstly, to the players and staff I was privileged to work with. I hope the journey ahead is less rocky for you all, and I would like to send my sincere best wishes to you and your families,
“To Danny, I’d like to thank him publicly for choosing me to work with him, and also for the incredible job he has done.
“I’d like to finish by thanking the Wednesday supporters. I was welcomed from day one, and greeted with warmth, love, and genuine friendship throughout my time at Hillsborough.
“I also didn’t realise how important the club and the people would be to me, and how much I needed it during that stage of my life.
“I hope there are better days ahead… Thank you, from me and my family, to you and yours. Wishing you all the best for next season and beyond. Once a Wednesdayite, always a Wednesdayite. Take care, Chris Powell.”

Chris Powell will be in high demand after Sheffield Wednesday exit
Sheffield Wednesday fans loved Powell, and rightly so for his coaching exploits and larger-than-life character.
After concluding his 23-year playing career at Leicester City, Powell became first-team coach at the Foxes before returning to Charlton as manager.
Powell played over 230 games for Charlton, and in Powell’s first full season as Addicks boss, Charlton won the League One title in 2011/12.
Despite the difficult circumstances off the pitch, Powell was adored by players, staff, and fans at Sheffield Wednesday.
With his coaching calibre in English football clear, the Englishman will likely find job offers easy to come by following his Owls exit.
