With Danny Rohl set to stay at Sheffield Wednesday, there is one man who Owls fans now want to return to the club.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl looks set to stay at the club, with it looking likely that a takeover could take place in the next few weeks.
News of Rohl’s return to Sheffield Wednesday training came as a major surprise, with it looking more likely that he would be succeeded by Henrik Pedersen, who has signed a new contract at the club.
The player reaction at Sheffield Wednesday for Rohl’s return has been divided, however, with several members of the first team reportedly discontent about how he acted following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
Whilst Rohl may not be a favourite amongst the Sheffield Wednesday squad at this moment, the return of a fellow coach would certainly receive a much more positive reaction.

After Danny Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday fans want Chris Powell to return
Much of Sheffield Wednesday’s success in the 2024/25 Championship season, with the club notching a top-half finish, came from the squad cohesion and togetherness that spread across the squad.
Optimism was high amongst the squad, particularly in contrast to the early stage of the 2023/24 season, and that trickled from the coaching set-up consisting of Danny Rohl, Henrik Pedersen and Chris Powell.
With Rohl and Pedersen set to lead Sheffield Wednesday this season, Owls fans now want Powell to return to the club and ‘get the band back together’, as they said on X.
One other supporter referred to Powell as ‘a fantastic bloke’ who will make a significant difference to Sheffield Wednesday this season. Fans continued discussing their dream of Powell returning, as one said: “This is all I need for today to be the best day I’ve had in WEEKS!!!
“Get Chris Powell back!!!”
Chris Powell would love an Owls return
There is no hiding the fact that, as well as the fans, Chris Powell himself would love a return to Sheffield Wednesday this season.
The massively popular figure connected brilliantly with the Sheffield Wednesday squad during his time at the club, and there is every chance that the players would be in favour of him returning.
When Powell appeared on All Wednesday, he spoke about his love for the Steel City, as well as the supporters.
“Playing for those fans, away from home and at home is brilliant,” Powell said. “A lot of teams would love what we have, I know that. I’ve been at clubs – whether I played for them or not – where you look at the fans… Away from home we’re sold out, at home we get 25,000+ regardless of who is coming.
“ And I just think it’s mind-blowing, actually, it really is. Fans are proud of their club, they’re proud of their city.
“People are good, they’re up-front, they’re honest and kind. I’m a Londoner, so I now what it’s like. People are in a rush in London, it’s a fast city.
“In Sheffield take time out to speak, they’ll say hello, they’ve got time for you. And I love that, I think it’s brilliant. I’m proud of London, but this city is bonkers actually.”
