Frank Lampard’s Coventry City have been quiet in the summer transfer market compared to their Championship rivals.
Coventry City are looking to go one better than their May Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland this season.
With the 2025/26 Championship season only days away, matters on the transfer front have gone quiet at the CBS Arena, with the biggest news regarding potential exits from Frank Lampard’s squad.
It emerged yesterday that Wolfsburg are chasing Milan van Ewijk, who gifted the ball to Black Cats striker Eliezer Mayenda to break the deadlock in the first leg of the play-off semi-final.
Now, in terms of potential incomings, the Sky Blues have targeted a highly coveted League One talent, but face competition for his signature from several European outfits.

Coventry City in race to sign Luton Town midfielder Lamine Fanne
So far in the summer transfer window, the Sky Blues have recruited three players for Lampard’s squad.
Coventry signed Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa ahead of fellow second tier suitors Middlesbrough and Southampton.
Miguel Brau also arrived earlier in July, before goalkeeper Carl Rushworth joined Coventry on loan from top flight Brighton.
Coventry have now targeted their fourth signing of the summer in the form of Luton Town midfielder Lamine Fanne.
However, the Sky Blues face competition from several European sides in the race to sign the 21-year-old.
Journalist Rudy Galetti revealed on X: “Cremonese, Coventry City and Union Saint-Gilloise have joined the race for Lamine Fanne.
“Empoli and Basaksehir also approached the midfielder recently. Luton consider Lamine a key part of the project and are currently keen to keep him in the squad.”
Spaniard Fanne made a 24-minute cameo in Luton’s League One opener against AFC Wimbledon on Friday evening, and now the player whom former Hatters boss Rob Edwards lauded with praise could exit the club after less than a full season.

Rob Edwards has already told Frank Lampard what Lamine Fanne would bring
Defensive midfielder Fanne joined Luton last summer from Swedish top flight outfit AIK, and made an immediate return to finish their season which ended in November.
Upon returning to Luton, Fanne made 12 Championship appearances last season amid Luton’s ill-fated relegation campaign.
Last August, former Hatters boss Edwards revealed his excitement at signing the highly-rated midfielder.
| Club name | Appearances | Goals + Assists |
| AIK | 22 | 4 |
| Luton Town | 14 | 0 |
Edwards told Luton’s website: “Lamine is a really exciting young player. He’s one we all think has really high potential. He is a strong boy, but can take the ball.
“He’s more of a defensive midfielder and can be really comfortable holding the ball under pressure.
“He’s aggressive and strong in the tackle, and is very skillful.”
Transfermarkt estimates Fanne’s value at the £2.6m mark, but given his Luton contract still has four years left to run, the now-third tier outfit would command a higher fee than that for his services this summer.
