Dejphon Chansiri rejects two bids for Sheffield Wednesday ace, he’s ‘refusing to talk’ to interested clubs

One Sheffield Wednesday star is generating Premier League interest, but Dejphon Chansiri has made his stance clear on selling the Owls man.

Sheffield Wednesday have lost several first-team players this summer, from the likes of Josh Windass, Michael Smith and Callum Paterson on free deals, to Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba for significantly lower than their market value.

There is a looming concern that the remaining stars in S6 will eventually move on, and one man attracting interest is goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Charles, who has found himself as Sheffield Wednesday and Northern Ireland’s No. 1 goalkeeper, has undergone a vast improvement in the last year, and whilst this has been noted by Premier League clubs, Chansiri is ‘refusing to talk’ with any potential suitors.

Dejphon Chansiri is not going to sell Pierce Charles

Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper Pierce Charles has grown quite a reputation in S6, having overtaken James Beadle at the back-end of the 2024/25 season as Danny Rohl’s go-to shot-stopper. It was expected that the Sheffield Wednesday ace would generate Premier League interest, but the Owls owner has taken a bold stance.

Via information from EFL Analysis transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, we can exclusively reveal that Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri is refusing to deal with any clubs over Pierce Charles and has rejected two offers for the player this summer.

We can reveal that Charles is one of three or four that have been paid on time, barring one month, and he is prioritising the players with value to pay on time so he can control their futures and Charles is one of them.

Two bids from West Ham and Rangers come in this summer, with both clubs offering large cash up-front to help with cash-flow. However, clubs have now walked away as Wednesday refuse to entertain offers.

We can also exclusively reveal that Charles is also being coached by the kitman while Wednesday search for a new goalkeeper coach. He is ready to move on but the club are currently standing in his way. Sheffield Wednesday, as things stand, are refusing to even talk with suitors.

Pierce Charles is the main man at Sheffield Wednesday now

He may have played second fiddle to loanee James Beadle last season, but there is no mistaking who is Sheffield Wednesday’s number one this year.

Pierce Charles has come on leaps and bounds over the last 12 months, and is now regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the game, as is evident in the fact that top-flight clubs are so keen to sign him.

Of all the players at Sheffield Wednesday now, Charles is arguably the most important and valuable. His performance against Leicester City last week was a clear signal as to how integral he will be to the Owls’ hopes of staying up this season.

The Northern Irishman made more saves than any ‘keeper in the second tier in the opening weekend, and he’s sure to be kept busy for weeks to come if he sticks with Wednesday.
