Dejphon Chansiri could be set to land himself in hot water after another ‘failure’ from the Sheffield Wednesday owner.
Since taking over Sheffield Wednesday in 2017, Dejphon Chansiri has managed to alienate himself from the majority of the club’s fanbase.
The Owls are having a decent 2024/25 season in the Championship, though the play-offs are now likely out of the question.

It’s behind the scenes where things really haven’t gone well for the Owls in recent years, though, including in the last seven days.
Sheffield Wednesday could not pay the wages of any of their players during the month of March due to what was described as ‘cashflow’ problems by the owner.
It’s the latest in a long line of errors from the Thai businessman whose poor financial management has previously seen the Yorkshire outfit placed under registration embragos, the latest of which was in November 2024.

Dejphon Chansiri sent EFL warning after failing to pay Sheffield Wednesday wages
Now, one football finance expert has been discussing what is going on at Sheffield Wednesday this week.
Kieran Maguire, speaking on the Price of Football podcast, has been commenting on the situation, labelling it another ‘failure’ from Chansiri.
He also warned that the EFL will not be happy with the Sheffield Wednesday owner.
Maguire said: “So this is once again a failure by the owner, Dejphon Chansiri, to have transparency, to be upfront with employees at the club. There’s no point announcing it on the last day of the month, and people say well football players earn a lot of money. Well, they don’t all earn a lot of money, I can assure you.
“I’m aware of the finances in that division, especially if you’re peripheral player, if you come through the Academy and so on. And regardless of how much money you got, on the 1st of the month, all your direct debits go out, all your standing orders go ou,t so there will be repercussions for that.”
He added: “Will there be repercussions for this from the EFL? Wait and see would be my answer to that.
“They will not be happy because when we’ve spoken to the EFL on a few occasions, they say it is important that club owners take their responsibilities seriously, and some of the comments from Chansiri appear to suggest that he’s sometimes detached from reality when he comes out with these things. He’s unaware because he is a wealthy man due to his family, but I think he’s in my view, he’s disconnected from what it’s like on a on a week to week basis.”

‘Cheeky’ Sheffield Wednesday player asked for money
Maguire also revealed that a ‘cheeky’ Wednesday player messaged him privately to ask for some money.
He stated: “Sheffield Wednesday failed to pay players’ wages in March. The Sheffield Wednesday wage bill is a couple of million a month, so of that, three-quarters of that is going to be, in all probability, going towards the players, so it’s a sizeable amount of money.
“I was contacted by a very cheeky Sheffield Wednesday player to say ‘any chance of lending us a few quid’.”
It’s an unfortunate situation for all involved, but it will hopefully be resolved in some manner soon.
