QPR have announced the arrival of Julien Stephan as their new head coach.

Marti Cifuentes was placed on gardening leave in the closing stages of last season, and Stephan has been heavily linked with the R’s job.

Now the Frenchman has arrived at Loftus Road and Jimmy Dunne has signed a new contract with the Hoops, excitement will be building in West London ahead of the new season.

Supporters have now taken to social media to send their warmest wishes to their new boss as QPR look to end their long tenure in the Championship.

QPR fans react to Julien Stephan announcement

It’s been 10 years since the Hoops were in the Premier League, and while expectations for 2025/26 will be to close the gap to the top six, Stephan will be keen to make a surprise play-off push.

QPR fans will also be keen to see that happen. They could well be one to watch in the Championship, and supporters are happy to see the new man at the helm.

Another wrote: “Julien Stephan’s blue and white army.”

While a third said: “Lads if he’s decent enough to get us to finish 15th or higher, please just keep him! This is like our 15th manager in the past decade. Give him three years.”

A fifth QPR fan put: “This seems like one hell of an appointment to me, going by what he’s achieved and the players he has worked with and brought through to be world class talent. But, this is a different kettle of fish here, and I hope he hits the ground running.”

And another Hoops supporter wrote: “New coach, new season, same hopes… come on you Rrrrs.”

Julien Stephan is an exciting appointment

After the uncertainty that surrounded the end of last season with Cifuentes, Stephan’s first job is to maintain order and bring a level of calm and stability back to Loftus Road.

QPR have agreed to sign Kwame Poku, but two other Championship sides have also agreed deals with the winger as he prepares to leave Peterborough United as a free agent.

Getting Ronnie Edwards to sign a new contract is also a vital job for Stephan and having that defensive stability could well be the difference between a mediocre season and a great one.

Nevertheless, fans have every right to be excited with this appointment and his experience in the French top flight will be vital in the coming weeks, months and potentially years at Loftus Road.
