The Posh star has been one of the major talking points throughout the summer transfer window after his breakout League One campaign.
Peterborough United finished 18th in the third tier last season, and since even before the summer transfer window officially opened, the Posh’s business has been dominated by Kwame Poku’s future.
Following their record-breaking League One title win, Birmingham City have been one of the frontrunners to secure the young winger’s signature this summer.
Birmingham are planning an “aggressive” transfer window and are looking to continue their impressive business as the Blues lead the race for Tommy Doyle.
However, the latest development regarding the Posh winger’s future could see Birmingham potentially miss out.

Three clubs agree deals with Peterborough United for Kwame Poku
Poku’s breakout campaign in the third tier saw the Ghanaian winger score 12 goals and notch eight assists from just 27 outings in League One.
EFL Analysis revealed in April that Birmingham were in talks to sign Poku, but faced stern competition from Scottish Premier League giants Rangers for Poku’s signature.
Amid the summer transfer window, Peterborough United’s director of football Barry Fry placed a £10m asking price on Poku, which seemed senseless given that the 23-year-old’s current Posh deal expires this summer.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony feared Rangers’ interest, because the Scottish giants would not have to pay compensation to sign Poku, of which a Championship club would have to do with any transfer fee for the starlet before his 24th birthday on August 11.
Despite this, two Championship sides have reportedly “agreed deals” with Peterborough to sign Poku.
Sky Sports news reporter Mark McAdam revealed that: “Peterborough United have agreed deals with QPR, Swansea and one other unnamed club for winger Kwame Poku.
“It’s now the players decision to make as to who he signs for this summer.”
Whether that “unnamed club” is Birmingham, Rangers, or another of the litany of suitors for Poku, whichever club he signs for on the dotted line this summer will be acquiring one of the most promising prospects in English football.

‘Unplayable’ Kwame Poku will be one of the signings of the summer
After Poku scored a hat-trick against local rivals Cambridge United earlier in the season, Posh manager Darren Ferguson labelled Poku “unplayable”, and his goalscoring record is clear proof why.
Via the Peterborough Telegraph, Ferguson said: “Kwame (Poku) is just unplayable at the moment. I would hate to play against him, he’s just so good.
“We’re trying to keep him and have offered him a new contract. Me and the chairman (Darragh MacAnthony) are trying our best, but it will be very tough and you can see why. If you watch him, the stats don’t lie.”
| Statistic | Kwame Poku in 24/25 League One |
| Games played | 27 (25 starts) |
| Goals + Assists | 12 + 8 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 6 |
| Successful dribbles | 52 |
| Touches in opposition box | 114 |
Poku’s athleticism and dribbling ability are matched by his prowess in front of goal, and after firing himself to EFL prominence this season, the club that the right-winger chooses as his next footballing destination will have acquired an attacking talent with limitless potential.
