Fresh Danny Rohl future update after Sheffield Wednesday exit plan shared, Henrik Pedersen role revealed

It’s been common knowledge for some time that Danny Rohl is leaving Sheffield Wednesday and an update on the situation has now been shared.

EFL Analysis revealed earlier this month that Danny Rohl will be leaving Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

It comes after the German’s late return to training did not go down well with a number of the Owls’ players.

Rohl’s position in Yorkshire had become ‘untenable’ and talks were ongoing in mid-July over whether he would leave outright or be placed on gardening leave.

Now, an update on the situation has been shared this week.

Danny Rohl Sheffield Wednesday future update

Despite all their problems on the financial front and with their manager, Sheffield Wednesday’s pre-season is underway.

The Championship season is now less than two weeks away, but it seems as though Rohl won’t be leading them out in August.

The Star are now reporting that amid the talks we previously mentioned, an agreement over Rohl’s future is near.

And it’s understood that the German and Sheffield Wednesday are nearing an agreement for the mutual termination of the manager’s contract.

It does not mention the financial implications of terminating Rohl’s contract. He has a near £5m release clause.

Next Sheffield Wednesday manager after Danny Rohl

We were told earlier this month that when Rohl leaves, expect Henrik Pedersen to take charge of the first-team setup.

Pedersen was heading things up while the manager took his extended leave over the summer before eventually returning to pre-season.

And the aforementioned report echoes that the assistant coach will take up the role as manager once Rohl’s exit is confirmed.

How Sheffield Wednesday players feel about Pedersen was shared previously, with their stance much more positive than the one they now have about the former Bayern Munich man.
