Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen has asked Dejphon Chansiri to keep hold of one key Owls star, with the Dane doing all he can on his part.
Sheffield Wednesday have undergone much uncertainty throughout the summer, building up to the 2025/26 season.
With the Championship opening weekend on the horizon, where Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Leicester City, several first-team Owls stars still hold doubts over their future.
This summer has already seen the likes of Josh Windass, Callum Paterson, and Michael Smith leave on a free, whilst Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba were also sold for far below their market value. Sheffield Wednesday fans are understandably expecting that trend to continue.
In terms of valuable Sheffield Wednesday players who could be sold for profit by Dejphon Chansiri, one young Owls ace stands out – and Henrik Pedersen has already admitted that he is doing everything in his power to keep him.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen admits the ‘tricky’ reality of keeping Pierce Charles
Last season saw Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles burst into the first team, and following a series of good performances, he found himself ahead of Brighton loanee James Beadle in the pecking order.
Charles was rewarded with a senior start for Northern Ireland in-between the sticks, and has since become a prominent member of his national side. Such a positive 2024/25 season ultimately increased Charles’ value, and it is no surprise to see Premier League sides circling for the young shot-stopper.
Henrik Pedersen has spoken about the goalkeeper and how crucial he is for Sheffield Wednesday this season, but also admits that it is not a simple task to keep him in S6.
“It’s more tricky than something I control,” said Pedersen to The Star.
“In the end, the chairman is the owner of the club and in the end he will decide. I can tell him my wishes and of course I have a big, big wish that Pierce can stay – he’s a fantastic goalkeeper and a fantastic human and he is a big part of how we want to play football in the future of Sheffield Wednesday.
“Of course I will do all I can for him to stay at the club.”
EFL Analysis revealed that Charles had Premier League interest, including from Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur.

Pierce Charles departure would be the nail in the coffin for the Owls
Looking at every position, Sheffield Wednesday are significantly limited regarding squad depth, and that is set to become a prominent issue for the Owls as the season progresses.
One danger area in particular for Henrik Pedersen is in between the sticks, where Pierce Charles is the only recognised goalkeeper with any first-team experience.
Not only does Charles bring an assured quality to the side, as well as experience that goes far beyond his years, but without him, Sheffield Wednesday would be significantly hampered.
There is no doubt about the crop of young goalkeepers that Sheffield Wednesday have in the academy, but dropping them into what is set to be a difficult season will only hamper their confidence.
It must be made clear to Dejphon Chansiri that Charles cannot be sold under any circumstances.
