Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen was livid with his side’s display against Bristol City, noting defensive issues as their Achilles heel.
Sheffield Wednesday are still winless in the Championship after their recent 3-0 defeat to Bristol City.
It was a sombre atmosphere at Hillsborough Stadium as Bristol City took control of the game in front of a suspiciously reported 20,000 attendance.
The Robins were clinical in the first half, opening up an unassailable three-goal advantage at half-time, which they would maintain until the final whistle.
While issues off the pitch have significantly hampered Sheffield Wednesday this season, Danish boss Henrik Pedersen showed no sympathy in his post-match press conference, discussing what made him ‘angry’ about the Owls’ defensive display.

Henrik Pedersen left ‘angry’ as he explains Sheffield Wednesday mistake
Sheffield Wednesday were up against the cosh for the majority of the contest, and it only took until the 6th minute for the visitors to take the lead via an unfortunate Harry Amass own-goal on the Manchester United loanee’s debut.
Two more goals by Emil Riis and Anis Mehmeti put Bristol City out of sight. In the fashion it was done, Henrik Pedersen was left with some constructive criticism for his Owls side.
“For me it is important that we learn from the experiences we have,” he said via The Star. “This has to be a quality for us. When you concede goals from a deep run behind our full-backs and we concede this goal again and again, I am going to be angry. Because it’s not good enough. Here we have to improve and learn, of course we have.
“This has to be the biggest quality, that we learn from game to game to minimise this situation. If it was their mentality, I would be nervous, but now I am seeing some basic things I am sure we can improve upon in the future.”
Following the 3-0 defeat against Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday have now conceded the joint-most goals in the Championship, alongside QPR and noisy neighbours Sheffield United.

Henrik Pedersen is right to say that the Owls squad are not void of criticism despite recent issues
For every player in the Sheffield Wednesday squad, it is a difficult situation, whether it be the uncertainty on pay or knowing that the first-team has been stripped to the bare bones.
Dejphon Chansiri’s tenure at Sheffield Wednesday has gone sour in recent months, and player performance is undoubtedly going to be knocked as a result.
However, as head coach, Henrik Pedersen still understandably expects the basics to be correct, which was Sheffield Wednesday’s downfall this weekend.
Even in the attacking third, Sheffield Wednesday were limited, having not hit the target throughout the 90 minutes of action.
Sheffield Wednesday need to pick themselves up and dust off ahead of clashes against Portsmouth and QPR, where the Owls will be keen to notch their first Championship win of the season.
