Daniel Farke is looking to go one better than this time last year by securing a promotion back to the Premier League with Leeds United at the second time of asking.
Daniel Farke himself is no stranger to a Championship title triumph, having already won two of them with Norwich City. However, he will have to follow the same path as Marcelo Bielsa after Leeds fell to defeat in the play-offs last term as well as in 2019.

It always looked like it would be an exciting campaign for the club in the second tier this season, with the Whites expected to be battling it out for promotion under the two-time Championship winner, and they are currently in the race for automatic promotion alongside the likes of Sheffield United and Burnley.
They are on the brink of promotion sat on 91 points, but it got us thinking back to last season when they fell apart and how they compare each season following their 1-0 win over Oxford United on Good Friday ahead of Stoke City on Easter Monday.

Leeds United 2024/25 vs 2023/24 comparison
Leeds’ capitulation last year is well known, winning one and losing four of their last six league fixtures. Matchday 43 was their second loss in three games following a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road, which came directly after a 0-0 draw with Sunderland.
Leeds remain in first place but are better off this season with a five-point lead over Sheffield United. Even a run of one win and two defeats from here, which was their end to last season, would likely see Leeds finish at least second at this stage.

A 4-3 win over Middlesbrough and agonising defeats to QPR and Southampton saw Leeds finish third and crash out of the play-offs to Southampton in the final at Wembley. The final three games of the run-in are likely to be easier this time around.
The relentless nature of the division makes it difficult to get to 90 points but they have now completed that feat in back-to-back seasons. On current trajectory in terms of PPG, Leeds are projected to attain around 97 points now, too — Opta Analyst’s prediction is that same figure.
That would break records for them or Burnley and would also see the club promoted automatically in every season since the Championship’s inception in 2004, and win the title in all but five of those years, too. They are doing it in style, and it will be richly deserved for them to claim the glory and the financial reward.
Also this season, Leeds have scored 83 goals in a single league campaign for the first time since 1969/1970 under Don Revie. They continue to break numerous records at present and don’t look like slowing down as they avoid Championship football in 2025/26.

Leeds could be promoted on their highest points ever
Last time Leeds got promoted, they went up on 93 points and they are on 91 at the moment. Only three times in the club’s history have they attained 90+ points, including this season and last.
Should they achieve just three more points against Stoke City, Bristol City, and Plymouth Argyle, they would break their highest-ever tally.
Having scored 83 league goals so far, it puts Leeds joint-fourth in the most goals they have scored in a league campaign, including: 1923-24 — 98, 1953-54 — 89, 1969-70 — 84, 1964-65 — 83.
Currently, they are on course for their highest points tally in a season, their most league wins in a season, their most league clean sheets in a season, and their best league goal difference in a season.
Wins won’t be as easy to come by given the step up from the Championship to the Premier League, which pundits like Roy Keane have been quick to outline. But enjoying the here and now after the bitter disappointment of last season is the key for Leeds fans.
