It’s all change at Huddersfield Town this summer, and early signs suggest the Terriers are destined for glory in 2025/26.
Huddersfield began the summer by securing a new permanent manager, with Lee Grant leaving Ipswich Town to take on his first full managerial role.
That was exciting enough, but Huddersfield’s transfer activity has left fans drooling, and rivals fearful of what the League One title race will look like this coming season.
The likes of Ryan Ledson, Sean Roughan, and Marcus Harness have all arrived already, and there could be plenty more to come.

Huddersfield Town fans are buzzing with transfer deals, but should they be worried?
With talk of young goalkeeper Owen Goodman potentially signing, as well as rumours about Nathan Lowe and Josh Feeney as well, the Huddersfield squad could be stacked with real quality very soon.
Discussing the moves on Twitter/X, fans were cautiously optimistic, while also questioning how the club has managed to secure such good signings.
One fan wrote: “Wonder where this pull is coming from all of a sudden? Is it Lee Grant, or are we offering ridiculous wages at this level, like Ledson? All alright if we go up, but dangerous if we don’t.”
Among the replies, one said, “Grant’s pull and coaching/playing experience. The club has also done fantastic work with loan signings in last few years,” while a third added, “We’re one of the biggest teams in this division, if not the biggest so not too surprising. That and also probably fat wages as well though.”
Others suggested it’s a case of ambition being attractive to other targets, writing: “Making four arguably Championship level signings shows real ambition. We’re gonna have pull when we’re showing we can feasibly compete for the title.”
On the idea that paying big wages could end up being an issue down the line if promotion isn’t achieved, one supporter simply replied, “We have the cash, so no problem,” while another added, “All of a sudden? We spend millions in every window? Last two January ones have been touching £5m.”
How long that kind of spending can be sustainable is another matter, of course. But, the good thing so far this summer is that Huddersfield have relied on free agents and their next targets appear to be loan signings.

All signs point to Huddersfield Town getting promoted in 2025/26
We’ve already nailed our colours to the mast in favour of Huddersfield Town winning League One and being the team to beat in the third tier.
With the quality they’ve added already and the names being linked now, it’s hard to look past them for promotion at the very least.
Obviously, we can’t rule out the likes of Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town, who fared well in our League One predictions a few weeks ago. The Tom Cleverley factor at Argyle in particular could be huge.
It will be a fascinating and thrilling season as always, we’re sure. But, with the likes of Wrexham and Birmingham gone, and Huddersfield learning from their past mistakes, we’re almost certain they’ll be back in the Championship soon enough.
