The former Middlesbrough full-back has been resurgent at Hull City so far this season.
After his initial loan spell, Ryan Giles joined Hull City permanently in the summer of 2024 from Luton Town after being deemed surplus to requirements by then-boss Rob Edwards.
Giles initially excelled on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers at Middlesbrough in the 2022/23 Championship campaign before being bought by the Hatters.
Last season, Hull loaned Giles to Boro for the second half of the season, in which he failed to impress on his return to Teesside.
As a result, Middlesbrough fans won’t have wanted Giles to return this summer following his former boss’ appointment, but the young full-back has silenced any doubters.

Hull City’s Ryan Giles ranks among best Championship left-backs
The Tigers have been in splendid form under Sergej Jakirovic this season, with their latest impressive performance coming in Hull’s 3-1 win over Southampton at the weekend.
Within the clash, Giles notched his third assist of the season, whipping in a wonderfully weighted free-kick from the left flank for the Scotsman to dispatch.
His remarkable upturn in form has seen only two Championship defenders, in Ryan Manning of the Saints and Harrison Burrows at Sheffield United, create more chances (14 each) than Giles (12) so far this season.
After notching assists against Oxford United and Swansea City, Giles has already beaten his assists tally from the last two campaigns combined so far in the 2025/26 season.
In 61 appearances for Luton, Hull and Boro between 2023/24 and 2024/25, Giles managed only one assist.
Now, the 25-year-old has rediscovered the form of his 12-assist campaign on loan at Boro in 2022/23 and will fancy his chances to repeat that feat amid his resurgence at the Tigers.

Sergej Jakirovic has been pivotal for Ryan Giles’ resurgence
In the pre-season summer, Hull fans predicted a redemption for Giles to come in the current campaign, and the Englishman has repaid their faith so far.
Not only did the Tigers faithful envisage a return to form for Giles despite his disastrous loan at Boro last season, so did Hull boss Jakirovic.
In July, he told the Hull Daily Mail: “I’m convinced (he can be a big player) of that because I already spoke with him. I think the problem is nobody believed in him one hundred percent.
“You cannot believe in a player for one or two games and then if he’s not good, you can go somewhere else.
“Somebody invested in him, somebody paid very good money for him, so we need to help him to support him.
“He’s a very fast player, he’s got a very good shot and can cross the ball very well, and I think it’s a very big advantage for us.”
Jakirovic was convinced of Giles’ resurgence, and he and the Hull faithful have been proven correct with the full-back among the Championship’s best in his position in the opening run of games.
