Ipswich Town had a busy transfer window this summer as they looked to strengthen their squad to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
While it can be a nightmare to secure transfers, with many falling through or the clubs failing to come to an agreement, it is something Ipswich had to deal with for a Uruguayan international this summer.
However, there appeared to be no such issue in securing one deal with one player, as he demanded to his former club that a deal be struck with Ipswich to allow him to move.
It took one conversation with Kieran McKenna to sell the project to him for him to make this demand; now he has opened up about how he achieved the move.

Azor Matusiwa on his move to Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town signed Azor Matusiwa for £7.8m from Rennes this summer, and the player has now opened up about the deal with the East Anglia Daily Times.
He mentioned that he was desperate to make the move to Ipswich after one conversation with Kieran McKenna, despite the complications that exist with moving a young family to another country.
He said: “I had a chat with the coach (Kieran McKenna), and it was then that I knew ‘this is my club’. After speaking to him, I just knew this is the place where I had to be and that I would do everything to move to here.

“Every single word. About the club, my role in the team, my position at the club, what he expected from me and how he saw me.
“I told the Rennes sport director, ‘I don’t care how you’re going to do it but, please, just make it happen’. I have to give him credit because he did. It wasn’t easy because they signed me for, like, 15 and a half (million Euros), and it was impossible for them to get that back. But they put in their effort, Ipswich did their effort, I did my effort and eventually it got done, and now I can play for this beautiful club.”
Azor Matusiwa on replacing Sam Morsy
Former Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy has now departed the club to move to Kuwait; however, he is a player that will not be easy to replace.
It is believed that Azor Matusiwa will be the replacement for Morsy, even taking his jersey number, and he believes it will take time to adjust to English football, but he is determined to thrive with the Tractor Boys.

He said: “I am aware of the shirt’s importance.
“In the beginning, to be honest, I didn’t want to take it, but some teammates and also one of the coaches spoke to me and told me I deserve the number. Then I was left thinking, ‘I want to be a leader for this team; I’ll take the responsibility’.
“I really wanted to meet him (Morsy), but unfortunately we haven’t crossed paths. Dara (O’Shea) is wearing the armband now, but we I think we have lots of captains in the team. I want to be one of them.”
