Ipswich Town were busy in the transfer market this summer as they looked to strengthen to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys made significant moves in the market as they brought in several new faces with just days to spare in the summer window; most notably, they brought in Marcelino Nunez from rivals Norwich City.
While Ipswich made a significant dip into the summer transfer market, backing manager Kieran McKenna to deliver this season, there were several players they targeted that they were unable to get across the line.
Now, one of these targets has opened up on his regret that a deal could not be struck to allow him to move to Portman Road for the upcoming Championship season.

Sebastian Caceres opens up about a failed move to Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town had been interested in bringing Uruguayan international Sebastian Caceres to Portman Road for the season, with the defender likely to battle it out with Jacob Greaves for a spot in the starting team.
Caceres appeared to be a straight replacement for Luke Woolfenden, who joined Coventry for £4 million on deadline day; however, Ipswich were unable to come to an agreement with Club America for a transfer fee.
Speaking ahead of Uruguay’s World Cup qualifiers, Caceres has spoken of his disappointment at not securing a move to England.
He said: “Obviously I would have liked to go because it’s a very competitive league, the sixth or seventh in the world in my opinion.
“It didn’t happen, but I think it was a great opportunity to test myself in Europe.”
Ipswich Town may sign Sebastian Caceres in January
The departure of Luke Woolfenden to Coventry City did mean that there is a need to bring a replacement in January, and McKenna may be willing to wait for that replacement to be Caceres.

The latest comments from the Uruguay international have made it clear that he wishes to make a move to Europe for his career.
Ipswich were not willing to spend more than what they originally offered for the defender, and in six months’ time this fee may be agreed, or the Tractor Boys may hope to pay less, especially after Caceres has made his opinion clear about where he wants to be in the future.
