The Sky Blues managed to keep hold of one of their prized assets this summer, and could be about to for a while longer.
Coventry City were one Dan Ballard header for Sunderland away from a penalty shoot-out to reach the play-off final, but suffered heartache to conclude their Championship campaign.
Frank Lampard had many of his Sky Blues stars to thank for such an impressive season, with attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni being one of his star pupils.
Amid the supreme talent’s links to Newcastle United, EFL Analysis exclusively revealed that Lampard told Coventry chiefs to keep Rudoni at all costs.
Thankfully for Lampard, he got his wish as Rudoni made it clear he wanted to stay at Coventry, and now another major update has emerged regarding the 24-year-old’s future.

Jack Rudoni set to sign new ‘bumper’ contract at Coventry City
After an outstanding season in front of goal, the former Huddersfield Town star was in high demand in the window, with Southampton making a serious approach for Rudoni ahead of deadline day.
In his first season at the CBS Arena, Rudoni scored ten goals and notched 13 assists in 50 games throughout the campaign, including the equaliser in the play-off final first leg against Sunderland.
Rudoni has also made a promising start this season, scoring twice and creating one goal in the first five Championship games for Lampard’s high-scoring Sky Blues.
Although Rudoni’s current Coventry contract does not expire until the summer of 2028, the Sky Blues hierarchy are reportedly set to offer him a “bumper” new deal.
TalkSPORT state: “Coventry’s sought-after playmaker Jack Rudoni is close to putting pen to paper on a bumper new contract.
“The Sky Blues rejected a big-money offer from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard on Jack Rudoni’s Coventry City future
With Rudoni possessing an eerily similar eye for goal that his head coach during his playing days at Chelsea, the Coventry star has developed rapidly under Lampard’s guidance.
As a result, Lampard was desperate to keep hold of Rudoni, given his importance for another promotion push this season.
In the late stages of the transfer window, when asked if he’d had any reassurances from Sky Blues owner Doug King that he can keep his best players, Lampard made his feelings clear amid Rudoni’s links to Southampton and Newcastle.
He told Coventry Live: “I haven’t specifically asked that question because this is football, and we are Coventry.
“We want to do the best and my job is to try and push the best players, coach them well and if we can bring in better players, it helps us to move forwards. I think that’s clear.
“I don’t ask for those assurances because, at the end of the day, I understand how a club works and the position a club works under.
“I want to keep the best players, for sure, because I know that makes my job… not easier, but we want to have success and they’re crucial to it.”
Coventry face Leicester City this weekend in an inevitably feisty clash, and Rudoni will be looking for his first goal contribution since before the break after failing to score or assist in his last two Championship outings.
