American billionaire businessman John Textor has lifted the lid on his rumoured interest in taking over Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday have been in turmoil throughout the summer, with EFL embargoes, failed wage payments and a summer exodus of the playing squad all coming in a matter of months.
The departure of owner Dejphon Chansiri is imperative to the Owls’ survival, and the Hillsborough faithful are desperate to see the Thai businessman finally sell the club.
American billionaire John Textor has been linked with Sheffield Wednesday throughout the summer regarding a potential takeover.
Now, Textor has broken his silence on his “interest” in buying Sheffield Wednesday from Chansiri.

John Textor breaks silence on potential Sheffield Wednesday takeover
EFL Analysis exclusively revealed this week that Textor’s interest in Sheffield Wednesday is ‘genuine’, but Chansiri is proving to be a tricky negotiator.
Reports in Brazil state that Textor wants Wednesday as part of his portfolio of football clubs.
Now, the former Crystal Palace co-owner has broken his silence on his “interest” in a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday.
As quoted by reporter Alan Myers on X, Textor said: “I have always been a fan of the most traditional English clubs.
“My great grandfather was English, and I have long understood the importance of Sheffield Wednesday in the history of football.
“I often cite the club as an example of what’s wrong with football today, the lack of parity, because of the influence of money. And I wish there was a system where the Sheffield Wednesdays of the world could be champions again.
“Whenever I talk about how I think the system should be better, I often use Sheffield Wednesday as the example of the big traditional club that deserves to be champions or at least have the opportunity to be.”
Myers added: “Textor has confirmed to me that he is investigating the possibility of acquiring a “traditional” club in England and Sheffield Wednesday is a club that interests him.
Textor concluded: “It’s true that I am looking for a traditional English club to buy, or with which I can partner. I just have not spoken with anybody at Sheffield Wednesday yet, and I am monitoring the situation, hoping to better understand it”.

How did John Textor’s interest in Sheffield Wednesday come about?
Textor’s interest in buying the Owls emerged earlier this summer, after talkSPORT pundit and ex-Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan, told prospective owners like Textor why they should buy Sheffield Wednesday.
Jordan said on TalkSport: “This is a club that I think has a huge opportunity, which is the reason why I was trying to get the Saudis to buy it.
“I was talking to John Textor the other day, if he comes out of Palace, I was saying to him, that’s the football club you should be buying if you want to buy another English football club.
“A football club that you could harness like Sheffield Wednesday. If you got Sheffield Wednesday going you’d have everybody in the town supporting you; they’ll be behind you.
“That’s why I keep advocating to everybody and anybody, buy this football club.”
Given the turmoil Chansiri has caused at Hillsborough, the Owls faithful will be hoping that Textor’s interest in Sheffield Wednesday materialises, given that the historic club is on the brink of collapse.
