Hull City have been told exactly what Acun Ilicali has failed to do during his tenure as the club’s owner.

Hull City have been placed under a transfer embargo after they failed to pay a reported loan fee of £1million to Aston Villa for Louie Barry, who spent the latter stages of the 2024/25 season at the MKM Stadium.

As a result, the club have been plunged into jeopardy and uncertainty, with Hull City fans blaming Acun Ilicali for the events.

After the news broke last night, Hull City have now confirmed the sanctions that they have been placed under, although the club feel ‘confident’ that they will have them revoked.

Nonetheless, it is still a mess that Ilicali is receiving widespread criticism for, and one journalist has honed into three areas that are a huge cause for concern and why the Tigers ‘need to get rid’ of him sooner rather than later.

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali told ‘he doesn’t know what he’s doing’ by journalist

The tenure of Acun Ilicali in East Yorkshire started brightly, with Hull City falling just short of the play-offs in the 2023/24 season, although, optimism was still relatively high.

However, it feels as though that feel-good factor has disappeared from the club after the most recent revelations.

Many of the concerns appear to lead back to Ilicali’s door, which has led to journalist Michael Graham giving his thoughts on the news, in which he has since given a scathing review of the Turkishman’s time at the club.

Writing on X, Graham suggested that ‘Hull need to get rid of that owner’ and then homed in on three key issues.

Graham continued by suggesting: “He doesn’t serve the club’s best interests, his heart is not in the right place, he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

“You don’t have to put up with this guy and defend him just because you’ve had even s____ owners in the past.”

Hull fans must voice clear concerns this season

Regardless of whether Hull City manage to emerge from the mires of their transfer embargo, the club seemingly have been juggling with financial insecurities since the 2023/24 season.

Acun came in with a dream to take Hull to the Premier League, but ultimately, that dream has left the club in a dire situation with no obvious exit point.

Having spent so extensively in the 2023/24 campaign, putting all his eggs in one basket, Ilicali and Hull City are now suffering as a result.

The fans have every right to voice their concerns over this, something that is set to make Sergej Jakirovic’s life very difficult in the early stages of his time at Hull City.
