Leicester City are making progress in the managerial department, with Ruud van Nistelrooy looking to leave the club.

With relegation to the Championship confirmed for the Foxes, Leicester City are already in the planning stages ahead of the 2025/26 season.

There is clarity now that Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City following his incredible 12-year stay at the club, which saw him notably notch a Premier League title and FA Cup win.

The next move that seems likely at this stage is for Ruud Van Nistelrooy to depart from the King Power Stadium following their relegation to the Championship, as EFL Analysis has previously revealed.

Leicester City already have potential suitors lined up to replace the Dutchman, with three names coming to the surface.

Leicester City identify Sean Dyche, Lee Carsley, and former Premier League manager to take over from Ruud Van Nistelrooy

As told by correspondent Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that former Everton boss Sean Dyche is ‘emerging as someone of interest’ to Leicester City. The former Everton boss has been out of work since his dismissal from the Toffees in January.

Elsewhere, England U21 boss Lee Carsley is also ‘on their radar’, whilst former Southampton manager Russell Martin is also said to be ‘keen’ on the Leicester City role.

Martin has been without a job since he was relieved of his duties at Southampton, whom he left rock bottom of the Premier League table.

Leicester are correctly identifying key trait in managerial targets

Unlike when Leicester City brought Van Nistelrooy to the club, which, in hindsight, has been the wrong decision by the Foxes hierarchy, there is certainly more optimism that the next appointment, providing that the Dutchman does move on, will be less of a gamble.

In particular, the Foxes identifying both Dyche and Martin shows that Leicester City are prioritising Championship experience with their list of suitors, a route thatb they undoubtedly need to go down in order to mount a serious challenge next season.

There may be doubts over the style of play of both Martin and Dyche, but their vast Championship knowledge will be crucial for Leicester City, and is something that mustn’t be downplayed.
