Jamie Vardy has officially confirmed his Leicester City career is coming to an end, and that’s bad news for Jermain Defoe.
Things just seem to be going from bad to worse for the Foxes this month.
Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed last weekend after they lost to Liverpool.
There has since been much speculation that Ruud van Nistelrooy could leave the club, with a shortlist of replacements for the Dutchman being drawn up.
Now, as well as being demoted to the second tier for the second time in three seasons, fans are left reeling after it was confirmed that Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City at the end of his contract this season.

Jermain Defoe could lose Premier League record to Jamie Vardy
Leicester fans were devastated at the Vardy news, but they are not the only ones likely to be less than pleased.
The Englishman has obviously been a prolific goalscorer throughout his entire 13 years in the Midlands.
During that time, Vardy has been creeping closer and closer to the all-time top 10 Premier League goalscorers list.
Number 10 on that list is Jermain Defoe, who, earlier this season, suggested he wanted to see Leicester relegated so Vardy couldn’t knock him out of the top 10.
Defoe got his wish at the time, but now the centre-forward is leaving Leicester, there remains a chance he could sign for another Premier League club and potentially surpass the former Tottenham Hotspur man.
| Rank | Player | Goals |
| 10 | Jermain Defoe | 162 |
| 11 | Michael Owen | 150 |
| 12 | Les Ferdinand | 149 |
| 13 | Teddy Sheringham | 146 |
| 14 | Robin van Persie | 144 |
| 15 | Jamie Vardy | 143 |

All-time Premier League top goalscorers
Vardy sits 19 adrift of Defoe, and he still has two more fixtures to play out with Leicester this season.
Another campaign or two in the top-flight could be enough for him to match Defoe.
However, he is unlikely to get much higher on the list.
| Rank | Player | Goals |
| 1 | Alan Shearer | 260 |
| 2 | Harry Kane | 213 |
| 3 | Wayne Rooney | 208 |
| 4 | Andrew Cole | 187 |
| 5 | Sergio Agüero | 184 |
| 5 | Mohamed Salah | 184 |
| 7 | Frank Lampard | 177 |
| 8 | Thierry Henry | 175 |
| 9 | Robbie Fowler | 163 |
Alan Shearer’s record looks unlikely to be broken anytime soon, though former Fox Harry Kane remains in with a shot if he ever makes a return to England.
