West Bromwich Albion have finally confirmed the appointment of their new manager.

Ryan Mason was appointed by West Brom on Monday as the Baggies finally found their replacement for Tony Mowbray.

The decision to appoint Mason has confused some West Brom fans, with the 33-year-old taking his first job in senior management after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, signing a three-year deal.

“This is a huge club with a fantastic infrastructure and an incredible fan base and I am excited about what we can achieve together,” he told the club’s official website.

“Having spoken at length to the board and those at the club I am convinced that Albion is the perfect place for me to be and I can’t wait to get started.”

Following his appointment, Mason has decided to make two new additions to his coaching staff, as well as keep three members on. So, with that, here’s what the new West Brom manager’s backroom team looks like.

Who are the new coaches Ryan Mason has brought to West Brom?

Mason has added two new faces to his coaching staff at The Hawthorns.

His first appointment was Nigel Gibbs as the club’s first team Assistant Head Coach. Gibbs has joined from Reading but knows Mason well from being his assistant during the 33-year-old’s time as Head of Player Development, as well as when the former midfielder briefly took charge of Tottenham on an interim basis.

Gibbs’ experience is vast and he has also worked for Swansea City and even had a spell abroad in Greece with Asteras Tripolis.

Sam Pooley has also joined the Baggies’ backroom staff as a First Team Coach / Head of Performance after working at Rangers in the latter role.

Pooley has previously spent time as the Head of Sports Science and First Team Sports Scientist at Tottenham when Mason was there and links up with him once again.

Ryan Mason to inherit three coaches at West Brom, including fan favourite

Three coaches will remain at The Hawthorns, including one iconic fan favourite.

James Morrison, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill will remain at the club in a move that will no doubt go down well with the fans.

Morrison said he didn’t want the West Brom job as he felt he wasn’t ready but his knowledge and know-how of the club will be invaluable.

Myhill is also a former player and will continue as a goalkeeper coach, while Abella is an analyst.
