James Morrison reveals how he really feels about becoming the new West Brom manager

West Bromwich Albion interim boss James Morrison has broken his silence on the possibility of becoming the club’s permanent manager.

Morrison has been overseeing West Brom’s final games of the season after Tony Mowbray was sacked in April.

Mowbray was dismissed after back-to-back Easter weekend defeats against Coventry City and Derby County, subsequently ending their hopes of a play-off place.

A number of names have been linked to the Baggies, including Ryan Mason, but one person it won’t be is Marti Cifuentes after he wasn’t named on West Brom’s shortlist.

James Morrison doesn’t want to become the next West Brom manager

The former Scotland international is a Hawthorns hero having represented the club over 350 times.

He’s also been a first-team coach at West Brom twice and whilst Morrison has aspirations of a manager role in the future, he has ruled himself out of contention to become the permanent Baggies boss for now.

“I probably could (get used to it) actually yeah,” Morrison told the Express and Star.

“It’s a bit early in my development, but it’s good for my learning curve.”

West Brom still have a role to play in Championship’s final day

With play-off places and relegation spots still to fill, even the teams who don’t have anything to play for personally can still alter the table.

West Brom play Luton Town on the final day, a side who know that a win will guarantee their spot in the Championship next season.

Should Albion beat the Hatters at home, results elsewhere could mean that Luton suffer back-to-back relegations to League One.

There’s everything to play for and everything to play it in.
