Middlesbrough could benefit even more from their sale of Morgan Rogers if recent reports are to be believed.

Boro are still waiting to make their first signing of the summer, and their search for a Michael Carrick replacement is ongoing.

Rob Edwards met with Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson over the weekend, and right now, he appears to be the frontrunner for the role.

The Teessiders are expected to undergo something of a rebuild this summer after another season of failing to win promotion.

Gibson wants to invest in Boro once more with the goal of reaching the Premier League, and could receive another financial boost from Morgan Rogers to help achieve that.

Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers sell-on clause

Middlesbrough signed the Englishman from Manchester City in July 2023 before selling him to Aston Villa in the winter of 2024.

Boro have already received two boosts from Rogers after he made his England debut, and Villa secured Champions League football.

Another financial boost could be heading the North East outfit’s way this summer as well, with recent reports claiming Chelsea are interested in signing Rogers from Villa in the current window.

Should that happen, Birmingham Live, who mentioned the Blues’ interest, says that Middlesbrough put a 20 percent sell-on clause in the deal for Rogers.

How much is Morgan Rogers worth

Right now, Transfermarkt values Rogers at €55m, which works out at around £46.8m.

That would see Middlesbrough take home just over £9m if Villa were to sell him for that fee.

But given his potential, the fact that he is an England international and his lengthy contract (2030), it may take more than that to talk Villa into a sale.

Either way, it looks as though Boro will benefit greatly from a Rogers sale at some point in the future.
