Rob Edwards is tasked with guiding Middlesbrough to a play-off place during his first season in charge at the Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough appointed Rob Edwards earlier this summer in the wake of sacking Michael Carrick to guide Boro in the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Within his first weeks in charge, Edwards’ duties have been dominated by summer transfer window business and pre-season preparations.
Regarding outgoings, Middlesbrough have agreed a deal in principle for Hayden Hackney with Ipswich Town, in a move which could see Boro net £20m.
The first signing of the Edwards era on Teesside came when Middlesbrough signed Alfie Jones from Hull City, and the Boro faithful are hopeful that many more recruits will follow.
Now, Edwards has made a heartfelt admission about being appointed as Boro boss, with the season fast approaching.

Middlesbrough fans will love Rob Edwards’ comments about Boro appointment
Edwards famously guided Luton Town from League One to the Premier League, but left the Hatters last season after a poor run of results to conclude his Hatters stint with a 32 percent win record.
Now, Edwards is aiming to end Middlesbrough’s top flight absence. After Edwards commented on Hackney’s future, he also made a heartfelt admission about his appointment at Boro.
Edwards told BBC Sport Tees: “It’s a huge football club this. It’s a proper football club.
“I’m so lucky. When I go into my office at the training ground, I think ‘wow’.
“And then I look at the stadium and think ‘I am so privileged and so lucky to be here’.
“There’ll be some tough moments along the way, because it’s 46 games, it’s never smooth, but we will try to make you proud,
“We will do everything we can to be successful here. I was just desperate to try and land this job, and I feel (like) the luckiest man in the world now to be representing Middlesbrough Football Club, and I hope to do everyone proud, I’ll certainly try my best.”
After a worrying first few weeks in charge within the summer transfer window, signings are finally starting to fall into place for Middlesbrough.

Signings are starting to fall into place at Middlesbrough for Rob Edwards
Boro delayed until late July to complete their first signing of the summer with the acquisition of central defender Jones from Hull.
Middlesbrough have since completed the signing of Abdoulaye Kante from French outfit Troyes in a deal just shy of £3m.
Middlesbrough have won the race for Callum Brittain at the expense of Derby County, with the Blackburn Rovers full-back set to join Boro in a £3.5m transfer.
As well as those, Middlesbrough are expected to sign two new strikers this summer to complement 13-goal forward Tommy Conway next season, with deals for Danny Ings and David Strelec on the cards.
After Boro owner Steve Gibson took time to appoint Edwards as Carrick’s successor, Middlesbrough have finally made inroads within the transfer market by targeting talent in key positions for the new boss.
