The Owls or the Potters, who will win this weekend? Here, we dive into one EFL pundit’s thoughts on a Sheffield Wednesday vs Stoke City score prediction.
It’s been a pretty good week for both Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City, for different reasons. While the Yorkshire outfit began the campaign with a defeat to Leicester City, fans saw enough to be proud of their efforts in the face of adversity.
Then, a youthful Sheffield Wednesday side triumphed in the Carabao Cup, which really raised spirits around S6 ahead of the weekend.
Stoke, meanwhile, got off to a flying start this season with a 3-1 win against Derby County, before making progress in the cup, too.

Benjamin Bloom and Sam Parkin deliver score predictions for Sheffield Wednesday vs Stoke City
So, who will come out on top at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon? Discussing the upcoming Championship fixtures on the Benjamin Bloom podcast, the host suggested he can’t see anything other than a Stoke City victory here.
Bloom said: “Don’t trust Stoke… they have good performances at the start of the season and you think the real Stoke are back after seven years of not doing well. But with that being said, I will get carried away a bit.
“Sheffield Wednesday, it’s easy to forget in spite of that first-half performance vs Leicester, just how beleaguered they are and how few players they’ve got. I think Mark Robins will be able to control this occasion and do the necessary and keep the young, cobbled together Owls at arm’s length… I think Stoke will get a clean sheet, Wednesday nil, Stoke one.”
As for Sam Parkin, it sounds like he’s more aligned with our own Championship score predictions, with the Sky Sports commentator suggesting a draw is on the cards.
Bloom, speaking for Parkin this week due to absence, said: “Sam was fairly impressed by Sheffield Wednesday and he’s got them getting a point here, which would be a great story and a real feather in the cap for Henrik Pedersen, and for the players too.
“Sam has got them getting a draw, maybe they get themselves in front like they did against Leicester and hold out for a 1-1.”

Sheffield Wednesday can make a real statement in front of Hillsborough crowd
Whatever you make of the Sheffield Wednesday vs Stoke City score prediction from Bloom, Parkin, or indeed ourselves, one thing’s for sure: Hillsborough will be a fascinating place to be on Saturday.
We know the crowd will be right behind Henrik Pedersen and his players, despite protests planned by the Wednesday supporters.
If we see a repeat of the performances against Leicester City and Bolton, the Owls will have every chance of taking something away from the game with Stoke, and it’ll further rally the fans, too.
Pedersen has big selection decisions to make, particularly in attack, but with the crowd on their side and a never-say-die attitude, we could well see something of an upset here.
